A few days ago I asked an IHG representative when exactly we could expect the ability to book Kimpton properties with IHG points to go live as we knew it was coming soon, and I was told a stock answer of “early 2018”. However, “early 2018” indeed did mean early 2018 as that functionality is now live! I know that Kimpton folding into the IHG program is not all good news for Kimpton Karma members, but it is good news if you have IHG points or award nights to use.

You can now use your IHG points to stay and the funky, fun, and stylish Kimpton properties and enjoy things like the evening included social hour, the secret password at check-in, pet-friendly amenities, and pretty generous elite benefits such as the “Raid the Bar” perk. While there is no one official published award chart I’m familiar with, here’s a rundown of some of the award rates at these Kimpton properties based on my searches (you can do your own searches here). As expected, they do fall at the upper end of the IHG award chart, in the 40,000 – 70,000 points per night range.

Kimpton Sea Fire Grand Cayman

  • Muse Hotel New York – 70,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa Grand Cayman – 70,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC – 65,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Van Zandt Austin – 60,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs – 60,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Alexis Hotel Seattle – 60,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Aertson Hotel Nashville – 60,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton EPIC Hotel Miami – 55,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Donovan Hotel Washington DC – 55,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Palomar Washington DC – 55,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton EPIC Hotel Miami – 55,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Born Denver – 50,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam – 50,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Topaz Hotel – 50,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Tryon Park Charlotte – 50,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle – 50,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City – 40,000 IHG points per night
  • Kimpton Hotel Monaco Baltimore – 40,000 IHG points per night

What do you think about these award rates for Kimpton properties? What Kimpton property do you hope to visit first using your IHG award nights? My answer would absolutely be the gorgeous Kimpton Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman, though 70,000 IHG points per night is a pretty hefty total.

      • Thanks for the update. Had tried to do that a few weeks ago and the Kimpton agent had said to try again after the first of the year. Was hoping this was the announcement that would signal they could handle the certs.

      • Sweet! I’m looking into that one as well for Oct. . I stayed at the Intercontinental last year but want to try out a Kimpton for the first time. Thanks for the update.

  1. I couldn’t get anything to populate for a 6 night stay at Grand Cayman. It just kept telling me nothing was available, even Christmas week that showed available in the calendar.

  2. I’ve been holding out hope for this with 2 certificates expiring 1/19. I figured they’d enable this on 1/16 when they update the award chart but even better! Thanks for the heads up!

  3. We actually used our free night certs LAST (2017) year at the Kimpton Amsterdam. We stayed this past December. Used the secret word and received free breakfast each morning. Great stay in a great location. Plus the wines at the social hour were very nice.

  4. Westin or Kimpton (Seafire) Grand Cayman, what is your pick? Based on what I read, Kimpton has better rooms but Westin close to the actions/restaurants.
