Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Aerlia

The much anticipated and much delayed Baha Mar project in The Bahamas looks like it is finally opening! The Grand Hyatt Baha Mar has announced on their Facebook page that they will begin accepting reservations tomorrow, April 21st, for stays beginning May 29, 2017! For those looking to use Hyatt points, the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is listed as a Category 5 property that will be 20,000 points per night. We won’t know what paid rates will look like until they…

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Bahamas May Finally Actually Open?

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar has a potential new opening date

A few years ago lots of us were pretty excited that Hyatt was going to have a large resort hotel in the Bahamas as part of the massive Baha Mar resort complex. For a while you could even book rooms for just 15,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points per night! However, lots of problems with the larger complex occurred before the doors ever opened including bankruptcy and more. The opening date was pushed back, and then stalled progress altogether in about 2015. Since…

Award Nights Available at Park Hyatt St. Kitts

Park Hyatt St. Kitts Rum Bar

I know the Park Hyatt St. Kitts is on the top of the radar of many Hyatt fans and points-fueled travelers. When it opens, it will play host to 78 rooms and 48 suites in a series of dwellings which form an arc around the beachside resort. While the resort isn’t open quite yet, and actually won’t be for many months to come, award availability using Hyatt Gold Passport points is now open for stays beginning mid-April 2017. This is a top…

5 Tips for Staying at the St. Regis Bal Harbour

As a part of the Amex SPG Stars program, we recently spent Labor Day Weekend at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami, and I shared a pretty extensive review and write-up of our room and time at the hotel here. However, in the interest of not writing more than anyone would care to read in one setting, I drew the line at “just” 2,000 words and 35 pictures in that post, but I still have a few tips to add…

Beach Front Luxury at the St. Regis Bal Harbour Miami and SPG Points Giveaway!

Every summer I am drawn to experiencing a family beach trip at least once. It doesn’t have to be a far flung adventure around the world just to dip our toes in the water, but I have found that we seem to enjoy the white sands and blue water of the beaches that are a little too far from home to easily reach by car. With a one year old along for the ride, we really didn’t want to venture too far from…

The Pools and Beaches at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

For spring break this year we ditched our complicated and extensive itinerary to Australia and New Zealand and instead made the much smarter and closer to home decision to head to the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun. With two young kids, and especially a baby who doesn’t sleep well, this was the best decision we could have possibly made. Of course, it helped that the resort was amazing, bookable on points, and we scored a two-story 1,300 square foot suite! You…

Swimming, Eating, and Playing at the St. Regis Punta Mita

St. Regis Punta Mita

A few weeks ago our family of four hit the skies together for the first time and headed south to Mexico and the St. Regis Punta Mita.  We were a bit apprehensive going into the first trip for our two month old, but all of that apprehension and stress melted away quicker than the ice in the first margarita when we saw our insane upgrade and quickly learned how over-the-top the service was at this resort.  This trip was part…

Pools and Beach at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Jamaica

Earlier this year we visited the new all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica all on points.  That meant that not only was our room “free” thanks to our Hyatt Gold Passport points and points transferred in 1:1 to Hyatt from the Chase Ultimate Rewards program and cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, but our food, drinks, and activities were “free” as well.  Let that sink in.  This resort would also be a good use of the…

Review of Catcha Falling Star Resort in Negril, Jamaica

In February my husband and I headed to Jamaica to help some friends celebrate their wedding anniversary without our little one.  As I explained here, Jamaica was never really at the top of our “must visit” list, but we always love to travel with friends when possible, so we hoped for the best and went forward with planning a trip to Jamaica.  We would have two nights in Negril where our friends were staying, and then two nights at the…

Hyatt Regency Aruba Beach and Pools!

This winter we decided to head south for a points-fueled January escape to Aruba.  We took advantage of a long weekend in mid-January to pack up the family up for a short trip to Aruba where we split our time between the Radisson Aruba on Club Carlson points, and the Hyatt Regency Aruba using Hyatt Gold Passport points (and Chase Ultimate Rewards points transferred in 1:1 from our Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card).  Rates at both properties were $400-$500+ on our…
