You Want to Apply for the Hyatt Card By Next Week!

One of my favorite credit card sign-up bonuses comes via the Hyatt Credit Card as it awards two award nights to use at virtually any Hyatt property around the world after you spend $2,000 on the card in the first three months. This means you can use those nights to stay at properties that would otherwise cost 30,000 Hyatt points per night such as the slope-side Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, the elegant Park Hyatt Paris Vendome, the Park Hyatt New…

Get Ready to Earn 5x Points at Restaurants and More!

The Chase Freedom is one of my very favorite rewards cards that has no annual fee because it packs such a big earning punch with its rotating quarterly 5x bonus categories, up to the $1,500 quarterly max. We now know that the upcoming 2017 Chase Freedom third quarter 5x bonus categories will be restaurants and movie theaters! Movie theaters may not be that exciting to most of us, but restaurants are a popular bonus category since it counts not just sit-down…

Applying for the Ink Preferred and Its 80,000 Sign-Up Bonus Points

It has been a few months since I have applied for a new rewards credit card, and recently it was time for that to change. I selectively apply for rewards credit cards for their sign-up bonuses and ongoing perks. I actually have a number of cards on our ‘2017 application wish list’, but first up was applying for the Ink Preferred Business Card. I love Chase Ultimate Reward points as they are transferrable to United, Hyatt, Southwest, Singapore, British Airways, Marriott, and several…

Avoiding Basic Economy Fares While Using Chase Ultimate Reward Points

I recently used some Chase Ultimate Reward points to book flights at a value of 1.5 cents per point thanks to having a Sapphire Reserve. I normally transfer my Ultimate Reward points to partners such as Hyatt, United, Singapore, British Airways, etc. and use them to book awards via respective travel partner award charts. However, in this case it was fewer points to book our flights using points at 1.5 cents each than to book a 25,000 mile United saver award, and…

New Promo: 10% Points Rebate for Hyatt Credit Cardholders!

One of the biggest reasons I got the Hyatt credit card back when I did back in 2015 was to take advantage of a cardholder only program that awarded a percentage of redeemed Hyatt points back for a number of months. They ran a similar promo again last summer, and this morning’s great news is that they are brining that promotion back again this summer for Hyatt credit cardholders! From June 1 – September 5, 2017, registered Hyatt Credit Cardmembers will…

Coming Change to the Chase Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

Many of the premium rewards credit cards have a built-in annual travel credit of some sort, but they all execute it in their own quirky ways that can get a little confusing from card to card. The Chase Sapphire Reserve’s annual $300 travel credit has been one of the most generous in that it works for any travel charge and it is issued once each “calendar year” meaning in your first cardmember year you could theoretically get it twice. Note that…

Chase Reportedly Overtakes Amex in Credit Card Rewards Spending

Today I ran across an interesting article about credit card rewards that probably won’t be super surprising to many of us, but it was still an interesting read. The Forbes article linked above points out that in 2016, for the first time, Chase outpaced American Express in their annual spending on credit card rewards. Not coincidentally this is also the year that Chase literally ran out of the Chase Sapphire Reserve and its metal card shortly after the card and its then…

Earn 100,000 Points Referring Friends to This Ink Card!

Today I got an email from Chase informing me that I could refer others to the Chase Ink Business Preferred Card and earn up to 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points in the process. I think this is both a great sign-up bonus and referral offer, but it came as a surprise because I don’t even have the Ink Business Preferred Card…yet. If you aren’t familiar, the Ink Business Preferred card offers a whopping 80,000 sign-up bonus points after you spend $5,000 on the card…

Why You Shouldn’t Cut Up Your United Credit Card

On the heels of the terrible United passenger removal incident, I recently shared things you can do with your United miles other than actually flying United…without just letting the miles expire or redeeming them for something uninspiring like a microwave . Either because of being wary of the in-flight experience, or to be a part of a wallet driven protest, there are those who are stating they don’t want to fly United ever again. As part of that protest, some are also…

Earn 5x Points at Grocery Stores and Drug Stores Now!

The Chase Freedom credit card has no annual fee, but packs some serious earning power as it has rotating 5x bonus categories every quarter, often on purchase types that families can easily maximize. The only downsides to this card are that you have to remember what the bonus categories are each quarter in order to use them, and you have to activate the 5x earnings. Today I want to help you out with both of those things. First, know that the…
