Cheap Family International Summer Travel From 2,302 Points

Earlier this week Southwest Airlines released their summer booking schedule so you can now make your summer 2018 family travel reservations using points or dollars via Southwest through August 6, 2018. I’ve been playing around with Southwest.com a fair amount over the weekend and frankly, I’m a little blown away with how attainable they are making international family travel, even during the busy summer months. How attainable? How about flying nonstop from Houston – Cancun and back in June 2018…

Southwest Sale: Houston – Mexico from 6,700 Points + Taxes

As they often do, Southwest is promoting a sale right now for fall travel that absolutely has my attention. This is not one of their huge systemwide $49+ type sales (that often comes in June), but there are some really fun prices to international destinations out of Houston I wanted to point out. I know fall isn’t peak travel season for families, but if you want to have grandparents cover for you a bit while you sneak off for a few days,…

Cheap Flights to Many Cities in Mexico Through the Summer!

I’ve become a huge fan of Mexico in recent years for low stress family vacations. For many of us Mexico isn’t too far away, so it can be a realistic destination when you don’t have a ton of time to work with, or don’t want to put your young kids (and yourself) through a long flight to get to a far off island destination. Perhaps even more importantly, there are some beautiful beaches, relaxing resorts, and of course amazing food…

Activities, Kid’s Club, and Babysitting at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Our Spring Break trip to the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun couldn’t have been a better fit for our family. From the big two-story suite we scored, to the awesome pools and beaches, to the pretty good included food and drinks, it was basically a resort paradise that costs nothing out of pocket when you book using Hyatt points or Hyatt credit card sign-up bonus nights. You can check out all those details and more at the links below. Booking and…

Review of Food and Drinks at All-Inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun

For Spring Break this year we ditched our original far-flung and complex itinerary and instead embraced where we are in life right now with two young kids and flew two hours from Houston to Cancun to the new all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun. In the linked posts below I outline the process of booking and getting to the resort, a detailed look at our massive two-story suite, and the on-site pools and beaches. Booking and Getting to the Hyatt Ziva Cancun Review of the…

The Pools and Beaches at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

For spring break this year we ditched our complicated and extensive itinerary to Australia and New Zealand and instead made the much smarter and closer to home decision to head to the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun. With two young kids, and especially a baby who doesn’t sleep well, this was the best decision we could have possibly made. Of course, it helped that the resort was amazing, bookable on points, and we scored a two-story 1,300 square foot suite! You…

Two Story Pyramid Suite at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun

After we arrived and completed the check-in process at the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun Resort, we happily headed towards our two-story 1,300 square foot Pyramid Suite. Suites are always nice, but once you have a couple of kids along for the ride, they take on a whole new level of “nice”. This is especially true when the kids are young and need naps or don’t sleep well at night. That “extra” space becomes very important and very well utilized in…

Getting to the Hyatt Ziva Cancun All-Inclusive Resort

My ideal vacation right now would consist of a dark room, a comfortable bed, a white noise machine, unlimited sleep, and no responsibilities for a few days (or even a few hours?!). However, since that is still unattainable, the next best thing is a trip to a quality resort with fun pools for kids, good food, yummy drinks, and on-site child care that is available using points. In other words, the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun was as close to perfect as we are…

Did Your Credit Card Sign-Up Bonus Get You This?

Back when I was in college I remember folding tables set-up around the University of Texas with people handing out things like baseball caps in exchange for a credit card application. I mean, come on, at least give a college student a burrito! I thankfully never applied for a card in exchange for a hat (or burrito), but I absolutely did apply for a credit card with a sign-up bonus that got me this. And this. And this. And all of this we…
