Remembering Paris

Like many of you my heart hurts for Paris and boils with a complex combination of anger and sadness for what has happened. Obviously there isn’t much I can do about any of it from the comfort of my couch other than continue to try and raise my own girls to have a strong but compassionate heart that is free of hate. Since there is nothing of value I could add to discussion of the attacks in Paris, instead I want…

Review of Kid Friendly Activities in Paris!

A trip to Paris in the spring time sounds perfect, yes?  Amazing weather, beautiful people, blooming flowers, wonderful food… I wholeheartedly agree that spring is a great time for a visit to the City of Light, yet Paris in the spring time with a four-year-old requires a bit of planning in order to remain a dream, and not turn into a pouty French nightmare.  The key is planning some kid-friendly events that the adults will actually enjoy as well.  Here…

Review of Radisson Blu Hotel Champs Elysees in Paris

On our recent three-generations family trip to Paris, we kicked off the trip with a bang on an award stay at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome.  However, we needed to move over to a Club Carlson property for two nights of the trip primarily in order to make my mom’s point balances stretch for the duration of their larger trip across Europe.  There are a few Club Carlson properties to pick from in Paris, but we went with the Radisson…

Visiting Disneyland Paris

One of the ‘must visits’ on our trip to Paris wasn’t a trip to a high-end clothing store or a top-rated restaurant, it was a date with a mouse.  Of course this was not just any mouse, this was Mickey Mouse at Disneyland Paris.  After making these plans, I quickly realized that people either found taking the time in Paris to visit Disneyland awesome, or the worst idea since week-old leftover egg sandwiches.  If I’m being honest, I very likely…

Park Hyatt Paris Vendome Review

Ah, the Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme.  For many this is the pinnacle of Hyatt Gold Passport redemptions – especially before it increased from 22,000 to 30,000 points per night.  The golden decorative accents, the 800 Euro a night room rates (well over $1000USD for the currency impaired), the famed breakfast, the air of ‘French Fantasticness’, I mean what better place to stay in Paris with your four year old, right?  Okay truthfully I was a bit worried this place was…

United BusinessFirst TransAtlantic Flight With a Kid

We recently flew in United BusinessFirst (business class) from Houston to London, and then took a British Airways flight from London to Paris that we booked separately.  Here is a summary of those flights, as well as some information on flying on a TransAtlantic flight with a younger child. Houston – London United BusinessFirst in Two Cabin 767-300 There is no way to get to Paris from Houston on a Star Alliance Airline without having a connection, so when booking…

Planning a Family Trip to Paris

Even though I am a bit of a travel junkie, I started out travels with my daughter pretty slowly.  For us, it didn’t make sent to jet-set the globe with an infant or toddler.  Instead, we started with short flights to Grandma and Grandpa’s house just before her first birthday, moved up from there to Disney and Orlando, and on from there to other domestic trips, the Caribbean, Canada, and even Hawaii.  I saw no good reason to rush bigger…

Five Biggest Concerns for Child’s First TransAtlantic Trip

We are in the final countdown for my four year old’s first trip to Europe and I am both Christmas-Eve-Style excited and First-Day-of-School nervous.  We intentionally waited until she was around this age to go to Europe as heading across the ocean with a toddler or infant didn’t sound like my style of fun, especially since there were great adventures we could have with her closer to home.  I know that is blasphemy to some family travelers who happily put…

Things for Kids to Do in Paris

My four year old (not so) mini traveler and I are heading for our first trip to Paris in the very near future, and while we have an idea of some things we want to do, I’d love to hear if I am missing anything major and get a few extra pointers from other traveling families who have been before!  We will have four nights in Paris and are staying at a combo of the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome and…
