Fly to Scotland for Less Than $500 From Houston and Atlanta

Right now you can book tickets on a mix of British Airways and American Airlines operated flights from Houston or Atlanta to Edinburgh, Scotland from about $490 round trip! I know those in some parts of the country have gotten used to sub-$500 flash sales to Europe, but here in Houston we often aren’t included in those great deals, or at least we can’t usually use those sales to get to the United Kingdom. I found the low fares bookable…

Using Points at the 19 Room Howard Hotel in Scotland

Once you get your feet wet a bit in the miles and points world, the next step is to diversify the types of points that you have as the opportunity arises. Over the years I have been able to ensure we have miles and points in lots of different programs so that we can usually get the award we want at the time we want…at least with some program. 5 Fun Activities for Families Visiting Edinburgh

I was able to book two nights for 50,000 total Club Carlson points when that would now cost 70,000 Club Carlson points per…

An Edinburgh Must Do: The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

By far, one of the most memorable and enjoyable things we did on our trip to the United Kingdom this summer was attending The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. I had absolutely no idea what a military tattoo was until recently, but boy am I glad that I found out.   Think castles, bagpipes, Highland Dancers, marching bands, motorcycle tricks, dancing, fireworks, cheering, and more and you have the annual Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The Tattoo performs for a few weeks…

Taking the Train from London to Edinburgh

After flying over the ocean in British Airways business class, spending a few great days in London at the Hyatt Regency Churchill, playing in Hyde Park, taking the tour inside Buckingham Palace, eating in the Disney Cafe at Harrods, and more, we headed to King’s Cross Station to catch our train to Scotland. It was really a toss-up from a price standpoint between flying or taking the train from London to Edinburgh, but we opted for the train to eliminate some of the stress…
