Great Value and Location at SpringHill Suites Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole is not only a destination unto itself, but it is also a gateway to many outdoor adventures including easy access to national parks such as Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. It’s gorgeous, it’s fun, it’s very well located, the people are friendly, it has great weather, and hotels can be quite expensive. When we unexpectedly got the chance for a short visit this week we jumped at it. Our flight on a private plane there might…

Unique Credit Card Perk: Complimentary Sheraton Club Lounge Access

There are some credit card benefits like a statement credit when applying for Global Entry, or no foreign transaction fees, or even trip delay coverage that have become pretty standard and expected on travel focused rewards credit cards. However, there are other perks and benefits that are far from commonplace or expected, and that can easily be forgotten about if you aren’t used to putting them to good use. Complimentary Sheraton Club Lounge Access One such unique perk that I…

Use SPG Points Now to Attend the US Open

The US Open tennis tournament in NYC each year is a widely popular event, and thankfully in each of the recent years Starwood Preferred Guest has provided opportunities for their members and cardholders to access not only tickets but some cool US Open experiences. These offerings are now up on the SPG Moments page, but be aware that these are generally very popular packages that sell out quickly. In other words, run, don’t walk if you want to have your pick…

Save on Holiday 2018 – 2019 Travel By Booking SPG Properties Now

A couple weeks ago I shared that the Starwood Preferred Guest booking window was stuck in early December 2018 instead of extending through the 2018 winter holidays and into January 2019 as it normally would via an 18 month booking window. I didn’t know if this was a temporary glitch or an intentional decision by SPG/Marriott. Either way, it was a major bummer for OCD points planners like myself because the expensive winter holidays are exactly when I love to…

SPG Advance Reservations Booking Date Frozen or Just Stuck?

As a big time advance planner I love that the Starwood Preferred Guest booking window has traditionally allowed for award bookings 18 months in advance. Many, many, many times I have taken advantage of this 18 month advanced booking window to lock in some great resorts during peak travel periods when standard rooms are still readily available to secure with points. These sort of reservations are usually refundable or changeable until much closer to the travel date, so it is a…

Sale on Discounted SPG Points Extended Through July 14th!

There are a ton of deals and offers ending today and tomorrow, and one of those is for Starwood Preferred Guest points that are discounted 35% through tomorrow, June 30th. Actually, looks like this sale has just been extended through July 14th! Purchasing points is not for everyone, but it can absolutely make sense in some situations both for low and high end hotel stays. If you are going to buy points, then of course buying them when they are on discount…

Use SPG Points at the US Open or to Play Ball at Wrigley Field

The SPG Moments program is one of my favorite ways to use points if you aren’t going to use them directly for travel. They offer really amazing access to events via your SPG points, and it is often the type of access you couldn’t buy with cash even if you tried. Two of the SPG events that I have really enjoyed in the past include watching a Cub’s game from the luxury box at Wrigley Field and hanging out in the hospitality…

The Future of Marriott and Starwood Programs

As you probably know, Marriott won the right to acquire Starwood in 2015, the deal closed in 2016, and their programs very quickly integrated to a large degree in that you can match your elite status levels from program to program and you can transfer points back and forth at a rate of 3 Marriott Reward points = 1 Starwood point. The merging of the two companies began in 2015, but from the beginning of that process the earliest date…

Discounted SPG Points Available for a Limited Time!

Starwood Preferred Guest points are generally regarded as the most valuable type of point out there, which is likely due in part to how hard they are to earn outside of paid SPG stays and charges on your Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express (or transfers in from Marriott Rewards). Since SPG points are one of the harder types to earn, some people do turn to buying them when they go on discount, and then redeem them for hotel stays or…

Use SPG Points for Amazing Major League Baseball Experiences

If you like to use your points from the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card or Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card for experiences, then hopefully the SPG Moments program is on your radar as they offer some truly unique experiences that can be very worth it if you have some SPG points to spend. Right now they have “restocked” many different MLB experiences that you couldn’t necessarily buy with cash even if you wanted to. Some of these available experiences include having your…
