Why Someone in Your Family Needs to Have a United Credit Card

Today my mom and I were putting together the final touches of our big trip to Vienna and the Christmas Markets that is scheduled to happen in late 2018. Specifically, we needed to book her flight from Houston to New York City where we are spending a few days with the whole family doing fun NYC Christmas activities before my mom and I head on to Europe and the rest of my crew heads back to Texas. When booking a 12,500…

Escaping the NYC Snow Storm to Fly to Houston Via Hawaii?!

With the recent epic winter storm in the Northeast, thousands of flights were canceled and airports even shut down due to the snow and wind. Lots of travelers needed to reroute themselves to get home, and in some cases the routings were entertaining. So entertaining in fact that you could fly home on United from Newark to Houston via….Hawaii!

$3 Short of United Gold Status Because Paid Upgrades Don’t Count

Josh has been traveling pretty regularly for work since mid-May, and while our family misses him plenty when he is gone so frequently, the upside is that he has been racking up miles, points, and elite status credits in various programs. I think he is just one more night away from earning Hyatt Globalist (thanks to the 20-night fast track promo), and he has been progressing towards United Gold status one flight at a time. Had he had this travel schedule…

United Starting New Nonstop Service to Tahiti in 2018!

United started teasing us a bit yesterday on social media that they had a big new international route announcement coming today out of San Francisco using the Dreamliner. This means that instead of it costing 45,000 United miles per round trip, it will cost you just 36,000 miles to get to paradise and back from the Lower 48 + Alaska…

Is United’s Secret Classified Restaurant Worthy of the Hype?

For the last six months, my husband has become a bit of a road warrior and is actually now flying a good bit more than me. As such, he has had the chance to become an airport lounge regular, earn airline elite status, and pick up his own business travel rituals. One of his rituals, shared by many other business travelers, is to visit a lounge to get work done and maybe even relax a bit before a flight. When…

Stack Promos to Purchase United Miles for Just 1.18 Cents Per Mile

Buying miles and points justifiably isn’t for everyone, but it can make sense if the price is right and you are confident that you will be able to put them to good use. There isn’t an across the board magical price point when you should buy, but in general, l the closer the price gets to 1 cent per traditional airline mile, the more many start to pay attention since it isn’t that challenging to get at least 1.5 –…
