Mommy Points is quickly approaching our 100th post and we really want you to help us celebrate!  It is hopefully just the first hundred of thousands more to come, but writing 100 posts while working full-time, being Mommy to Little C, and trying to keep the house at least habitable, is a milestone that we want to celebrate!

I have found that I often learn the most on blogs from the information in the comments section of each post.  I love the fantastic exchange of information that happens in the miles and points (and parenting!) community, and want to encourage that exchange by giving a $100 gift card to a person who makes a comment this week.  Here’s how it’s going to work:

1.  You get one entry per day for making an eligible  comment (i.e., functioning email address, real person, not spam!)  on any Mommy Points post between Monday August 8, 2011 at 12:01AM and Friday August 12, 2011 at 11:59PM CST.  Eleventy billion comments per day, still just earns one entry for that day. 🙂

2.  You can earn one additional entry by “liking” the Mommy Points page on Facebook.  Click here to do that now!

3.  If you are related to me, you are ineligible to win.  Sorry, Mom!

4.  Each entry will be assigned a random number that will be printed on a “ticket”.  Each contestant is eligible for a total of six tickets.

5.  All tickets will be placed  in a bag, and Little C will draw the winner.  In the event she gets bored, wants to eat the tickets, or otherwise is in a bad mood, we will help her out.

6.  The winner gets a $100 gift card to the airline or hotel of their choice.  The selected airline or hotel must have gift certificates available for purchase on their website.

We will film the drawing and post it on Mommy Points so that you can see Little C hopefully selecting you as the winner!  The winner will be announced on Saturday, August 13th, 2011.  Good luck, and happy commenting and liking!

  1. Just thought I would get in a practice comment before the contest starts tomorrow. Maybe seeing my name first will make Little C not want to eat my entry tickets later this week 🙂

  2. So fun! Glad I could be the first comment today! I’m really loving your blog! Thanks so much! Great to be connect with you on FB too! You can friend me if you like & see more about my little life.

  3. I’m in and like your blog and the addition to the boarding area. I would love to see your little one in front of something more travel related however.

    • We are on the same wave-length! I don’t happen to have any travel related photos of her that are long and skinny like they would need to be for a blog header, but I have something almost as good coming VERY soon! 🙂

        • Thanks so much to everyone for taking part in this contest, and for your kind words!!

@DeltaGOLDflyer, you are cracking me up! That is kind of in the works. I wouldn’t exactly call it a “mileage run”, but Little C is flying with Mommy for the day to the beach very soon!

          • I sure hope the little tyke has her own FF number and will get getting points for the trip. You can never be to young to build those lifetime miles! 🙂

          • She has already started her lifetime collection! But….I am being a crazy person and flying her in my lap on the short flight. Crazy.

  4. glad I was able to be the guinea pig on the Explorer card – hopefully others will have similar success. nice giveaway – count me in!

  5. Prefect opportunity for my first comment 🙂
Great blog and great perspective for people like me, my son is almost the same age that Little C. However, we have not traveled extensively with him. September will be the month but we made already the first mistake, we booked a 5 hour flight without a seat for him. Let’s see how it goes

  6. @Airshadow, Thanks so much for sharing your story! I have my fingers crossed that your story is the “rule” and not the “exception”. Either way I am happy that you were able to get your miles!

@Jogeluis500, I would say that you made your first great decision by being brave enough to make the trip! Not having a seat may make it a bit more work on you, but hopefully it won’t be too bad. I’m actually flying with Little C as a “lap child” very soon. It will be on a super short flight, but I’m considering it a little experiment. I’ll let you know how it goes!

  7. I don’t know how you manage to do all of this with a full time job and a litte one. More power to you! Please keep it up because your blog rocks!!!

  8. I like the idea of using Little C for the drawing, rather than just or some technological equivalent.

  9. As a newbie in this cheap travel game and father to a 1 year old girl, I visit your site almost daily. Keep up the great work.

  10. I have been reading your blog every day since I “discovered” Mommy Points a couple of weeks ago. You added a new dimension, family travel,to the FF world. Congrats on the milestone!

  11. We are taking my 3-yo son on a couple of practice flights this year in preparation for a trip to Europe next summer for a cruise. We have enjoyed your toddler travel tips and hope to emulate your success.

  12. My “baby” is 20 now…when she was placed in our arms at three months old we embarked upon our first travel adventure…a 43 hour trip home…messed up air due to the Gulf War starting limited flights. That first trip was a doosey…but we have had many happy travels since including returning to Romania when she was 7 to adopt her brother. Traveling with kids will build wonderful memories! I know. 🙂 Thanks for your blog!

  13. When my kids were little travelers 2 things were always in my carry on. A air reactive hand warmer (the kind you put in mittens) and a cold pack that could be shaken to activate. (the kind kids use for sports injuries) One of the two always helped if their little ears got sore on the plane.

  14. Finally, someone blogging about travel with little ones in mind. So wish you were around when we first started flying with our kids.

  15. I have enjoyed reading your blog every day since I found it two weeks ago. We are taking our 4 and 7 year old to Legoland California over Labor Day weekend; with free flights and hotel, of course!

  16. Hi Mommy Points,
Recently found this blog and now it is on my favorite list and one my “must read everyday” ever since! Really like the way you put your personal touch in everything you write, so please keep going like that!
I’d dream to have access to all those offers, but still your tips had help me gain many miles.
Greetings from a Venezuelan residing in Argentina 🙂

    • CarlosU, I’m honored to be on your “must read” list! Thank you so much and greetings right back at you in Argentina!

    • @Emily, thanks! We take it all one day at a time. 🙂 I have lost much of my TV/Netflix time after Little C goes to bed doing this, that’s for sure!!
