Naturally on the day that I was caught up in the Starwood Preferred Guest promo rumors, Hyatt comes out with their fall promo!  I think they were just trying to beat the impending Starwood announcement, but that is just my guess!  This Hyatt promo isn’t exactly “earth shattering”, but it is okay in my book.  I know my husband will be a bit disappointed as he was hoping for an “every stay counts double” type promo to help him close out his quest for Diamond status this year.

Between September 15 – November 15, stay 3 nights and earn 5,000 bonus points.  A maximum of 30,000 bonus points can be earned from this promo.  The nights can be consecutive, or occur over a number of different stays.  I am curious if it stacks with this Hyatt 3,000/5,000 point promo that some were targeted for as there is a two week overlap period.  You can read all the fine print here.

As I mentioned in my Starwood Rumors post, I really like promos that involve “stay x number of days” and receive bonus points.  I am often booked on a very low rate, so promos like this work better for me than promos where I get 2x or 3x points.

I know most aren’t throwing parties in celebration of this promo, but it is better than nothing….which is what many had right now for Hyatt.  Of course, “Faster Free Nights” where you get one free night at any Hyatt after staying two nights at any Hyatt, would be nice to see at some point this year…come on, Hyatt!

You will be able to register for the promotion at www.goldpassport/possibilities starting on September 15th.  So, don’t forget!  🙂  I plan to write a post that compares some of the major hotel chain’s fall hotel promos in the near future so that you can make sure your family is getting the most for its travel buck!

Are you disappointed in this promo?  Excited that they finally have a promo again?  What type of hotel promos do you like best for your family?

  1. […] I mention Hyatt specifically, because I’m seeking Diamond status the hard way, by stays.  Okay, for the zealots, I could try to do it by nights, but I’m not that lugubrious.  And when I say “seeking”, it’s more that I’m “strongly encouraged” to do hotel hopping by MP to obtain the status.  She was far more keen on my Diamond attainment before she went on her SMD3 trip (I just can’t bring myself to say Mega DO) and received Diamond status as a result.  But some people are born rich, while others earn it.    As I write this, I’m in the middle of a two night stay in San Antonio, about to check out of the Hyatt Place Airport, and staying in the Grand Hyatt this evening after my work day.  If you are reading this, and it makes no sense to you, I don’t blame you.  Essentially, I’m earning two “points/hits/tallies” toward an elite status with the Hyatt loyalty program, plus two nights toward their current Stay 3 Get 5,000 bonus points promotion. 1. Disappointed. I have about 10 nights this fall that I was holding out on booking with anyone else as I was hopefully Hyatt would do FFN again. Now they will be booked with a combo of Marriott for their free nights promo and Starwood assuming they do the rumored promo or better.

    • I know it’s not near the promo that many were hoping for. Good to know there are other hotel promos out there that might work better for your situation!
