I love fun and creative contests, so I hope this is a sign of things to come with this year’s US Airways Grand Slam!  If you aren’t sure what the Grand Slam is or why you should be excited about it, check out this post.  Short story, you can earn over 100,000 US Airway miles for participating.

The first 110 people who tweet a picture from a baseball game on Sept 2 – Sept 9 (I bet the deal dries up way before the 9th) while holding a picture of a US Airways sign will earn 500 miles and a hit in this year’s Grand Slam.  Considering how expensive some of those last hits can get, this is totally worth it to me.

Here are the details:

  • You have to register for Grand Slam (Go ahead and do this anyway, even if you aren’t going to take part in this Twitter promo)
  • You have to follow US on Twitter and include @USAirways in your response.
  • The person in the picture doesn’t have to be you; it can be anyone holding a US Airways sign.
  • If you’re not going to a baseball game this week you can get creative and take a picture at a little league or softball game.
  • If you win, you’ll receive 500 bonus miles and 1 hit in the Grand Slam promotion
  • Twitter promotion runs from September 2 – September 9, 2011
  • You can go here to learn more about this promo and print out a pre-made sign if you don’t want to make your own.
We may have to swing by a Little League park on the way home from Little C’s daycare today and snap a picture.  A little crazy, a little fun, a few points, sounds like a perfect Mommy Points Friday afternoon.
Update: Here is how our Little League version of the photo turned out……complete with tweet.  C actually was really into it!  I’m a tweeting novice, so hopefully I did it right.
On a somewhat related note, we actually did attempt to take Little C to a MLB baseball game a few weeks ago.  I hope to share that strike-out story with you soon!  See pouty face below.  Too bad we didn’t have a US Airways sign with us.  😉

Thanks to Quasiconvexity on Milepoint for sharing this info!

    • No problem – thanks for posting! I am insanely Twitter challenged, so this is helping is helping me get more Twitter practice. Ha ha.

  1. Can I have the sign shown on my Ipad instead and can I take a picture of it outside of a stadium?

Also you said it doesn’t have to be me? Any chance I can google up a picture and post it? =P

    • Stan, since I don’t personally have experience with how lenient they are on a contest like this, your guess is as good as mine about how closely they stick to the specified rules. If outside a stadium with an iPad is as good as it gets for you this week, I would say go for it and see what happens! As far as googling someone else’s picture…….you could try. I would probably snap my own version and see what happens, but that’s just me. Good luck!

  2. You can’t blame her for pouting — after all, you were trying to take her to see the Astros! (I got to watch them lose on Friday.)
