Racking up the Points with United MileagePlus Dining

I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy eating (and drinking, for that matter.) I do it every day, several times a day. I like to do it in different places. I like to do it with different people. I like to try new things. I think about it constantly if it has been too long since I have previously done it. Wait, we are still talking about eating, right……? 🙂

Anyway, I have mentioned dining programs that earn you points in a couple of previous posts (United Dining and Southwest Dining). I have always been a fan of dining programs, but the efficiency with which the United Mileage Plus Dining program has operated for me thus far makes me a Super Fan! The miles have been paying out within a few days of the dine and the bonuses have been phenomenal and have also been paying out quickly. I hate when I register for some type of promotion and it doesn’t automatically give you miles like it should (uh-hum Continental Shopping Portal). That has not been a problem at all so far with United Dining. Even their hefty bonuses have been coming through on time and without hassle. I’ve racked in over 7000 United miles since May with this program.

I earned 3000 bonus United miles in June – most through hosting a Mommy Play Group dinner party at my house that was catered by a restaurant that participates in this dining program. Not a bad deal for something I was going to do anyway! That bonus which earned me the 3000 miles is over, but they still have a new member sign-up bonus of 1000 points when you spend $50 at a restaurant in the first 30 days of joining. I just bought a gift card for $50 at a restaurant I knew I was going to visit later and that worked just fine….though I’m not sure if that is the intent of the program!

If you are looking for a simple and so far hassle-free way to earn miles, really consider the United dining program.  I have only had one dine that didn’t post automatically.  I let them know about it and it posted within a few days after that.  If you were targeted for the Months of Miles promo, the dining program becomes all that more enticing, but even without the Months of Miles, it is a great way to earn free miles.

Sign-up here to get started! Once you register for the program, be sure to register for the New Member 1000 mile bonus! How do you like the dining program?  Which one do you use?

  1. Glad to hear this is a good program. I’m going on vacation next week and signing up for the Dining program (with United) for the first time this weekend. Looking forward to trying it out. The only restaurants by where I live that participate are Burger Kings.

  2. UA dining is awesome. Two of my favorite restaurants around my college are in the program. I’ve gone of meal plan this year too so I find myself there a lot these days!

  3. Gary, very true that there are many programs, United just happens to be my favorite. 😉
Thx for sharing the link to where they are listed on your site!

Cassie, that stinks it is just Burger Kings in your area, but still worth signing up! Don’t forget about the new member bonus promo, too.

break, I find myself frequenting dining program spots as well!

  4. Hi Mommy–sooo I just signed up. There are only a couple of restaurants I recognize on the list. It seems like a very limited selection near my home. Nothing fast food or particularly kid friendly. I notice you buy beverages and day old bread…do you seek out these restaurants? Does it require distance where you live? Thanks for tips!

    • Kathy, I think participating restaurants vary dramatically from city to city. Do keep an eye on it as the list of restaurants changes sometimes with new additions. I also check the list when I travel, and try to hit up participating restaurants on the road.
