Should We Have a Park Inn Houston Meet-up?

Update:  I started a thread on Milepoint since there is at least some interest in this.  This could be a great way to hang out and earn credit for the promo many of us will be doing anyway.  Head over to Milepoint to brainstorm details or RSVP!

I’ve gotten a few comments, emails, and tweets related to doing a Park Inn by Radisson meet-up.  Since there are only ten in the country, and two are in the state of Texas, it doesn’t sound like a terrible idea.  There has been some talk of visiting the one in Dallas due to the proximity to DFW, but since I am already so close to one in Houston, I’m more likely to stay local in this instance.  Which begs the question……..any local Houston folks (or those who were coming in to hit a super cheap Park Inn and Country Inn & Suites anyway) want to try and coordinate?  We could go eat somewhere near the hotel in the North Houston area, or just hang out at the hotel bar.  Doesn’t matter to me.  Though Pappasitos is only about 7-8 miles away……. AAA rates for the hotel that night are about $66.00 plus tax.  There is a shuttle service to/from IAH for anyone that is considering taking this stay onto a flight in or out of the lovely city of Houston.

The date that has been mentioned to me is Saturday June 16th, but that isn’t set in stone.  If there really is interest, we can coordinate all the details over on the Meet Up Forum at MilePoint.  I just wanted to post something about it on this site since a few folks had reached out to me here.  Let me know if there really is some interest, and we can start a thread on MilePoint.  You can get both Country Inn and Suites and Park Inn stays in North Houston for not much over $100 plus taxes.  To put it in familiar terms for my husband, that is 88,000 bonus points for the cost of a few beers for the two of us at an NFL game.  😉  I will be redeeming those points for at least a $400 – $500 value, so it is a great deal for my family!

Let me know if this sounds good to you!  Also, be sure to register for these three promos:

  1. I think it’s a great idea, I’ll be in Houston for an annual family visit. June 16th is the best day for me, however it is also best to make it earlier in the day, like a late lunch, say 1pm or 2pm. I may have a family commitment that evening.

Park Inn onsite restaurant/bar is the easiest/fastest, unless we actually want to seek out great food (usually I would, but for me personally time may be limited this time around).

    Let’s do it!

  2. I say lets take this over to MilePoint. I’m interested, but the 16th is up in the air for me. I would perfer Dallas since it also has a Radisson, but I understand the reasoning behind Houston.

Hey, maybe we could get a cheap group rate that would earn points? 🙂

    Club Carlson MegaDo 2012!

  3. Oooh – I just moved to Houston last month and don’t know a soul – I’d totally be in for a meet-up! I’m headed back to LA next month and will get both my Radisson and Country Inn stays there – but the Park Inn at IAH sounds like a great plan:) jen

  4. Well, I just signed up for each to try. All three were still good and said that I am signed up for the bonus points, so ignore my prior question.

  5. If it is in a weekend, I probably can make a mileage run to meet you guys. I used to live in Houston, miss it.

  6. I would be interested, but it would also have to be early on, as I have an evening commitment. I have already booked my stay in Dallas, but can’t resist a party :))

  7. Yes Jason I got an email immediately after registering for all three promos, I would try again I’d I hadn’t.

    • I got an email for all three as well. Also, if early is better for folks I am all for a lunch meet-up! I’ll even buy some appetizers…….yum, queso. 😉

  8. I was going to Dallas in July for a big Party, the Radisson and Country Inn are about 5 miles apart. Going to check out of one and into the other! Oh and I heard the country inn in Ft Worth will shuttle to the Amtrak station.

  9. For the same evening, the Country Inn further down Beltway 8 had even lower rates for AAA members plus an early booking savings of 25% off. The lowest Park Inn rate that I saw just now was $76.

  10. Too far away for queso at Pappasitos! Someone please have flan on my behalf!! I am looking at Country Inn in San Diego next Sunday night. Park Inn in Fresno on June 16th and Radisson in Boston (Chelmsford) for work sometime in June.

  11. …I knew I was in Houston when I passed that big bulding with the sign that read “Come on in! Shoot a gun!

  12. Ya need a meet up in Germany. Little C up for cart rides? See “Minting the luggage cart at FRA” over on FT. 🙂

  13. My wife and i are going to drive from houston for the Global Entry Interview on 15th. I am confused there seem to be different rate categories – which one did you guys select?

  14. @AlohaDaveKennedy I think you could tie in the Luggage Mint plan with the Carlson Promo. While we’re not flying through FRA, we are planning on hitting all 3 hotels on an upcoming trip to Lubeck, Germany. The town has a Radisson Blu, a Park Inn, and in the nearby (15 min) town of Timmensdorfer Strand there is Germany’s only Country Inn and Suites right on the Baltic coast.
