Update:  Looks like the fares have now been pulled.  Congrats to everyone who got in on time!

If the cold weather has you wanting to book a trip to Hawaii, then this is a good time to do it (at least if you can fly in/out of DFW)!  I am seeing fares around $400 round trip from DFW to Kona, Honolulu, Maui, and more.  There is very wide availability on these, and you can book for a real vacation for a week or longer, or do a same day turn around for a mileage run (if you are so inclined as these fares are around 5 cents per mile). I am seeing availability all the way into late November 2013 on many routes.

Even if you don’t live in DFW, since it is an American Airlines hub it can be easy to use British Airways Avios to position yourself to DFW from many locations to take advantage of these great fares.  For example, from Houston that will require just 4,500 Avios each direction to position for these fares.  I paired my Veteran’s Advantage discount and United Travel Club membership to bring the round trip fares under $400.  This is a case where buying the ticket and earning miles is a better deal for most than using miles.

I don’t expect these fares to last very long, so move quickly and ask questions later.  You can always get a refund for 24 hours, or you can put flights on hold for a small fee for up to seven days.

Thanks to LRD for sharing this info on Flyertalk!  Do you plan to take advantage of this deal to head to the islands?

    • Mike, $400 round trip from DFW isn’t all that normal, and this one is available throughout all of next year, not just during a particular season.

  1. I’m not seeng this fare on any dates I’ve searched. $700 flying midweek, off season is the best I’ve found with no promo codes, etc.

    • escs96, looks like the fare may have now been pulled. Congrats to everyone who bought or put one on hold in time. So sorry for everyone who didn’t get to it in time!

  2. Thanks for your quick reply. I hope to find it sooner next time. I will follow you on twitter so I can see deals like this sooner.
