Get Discounts and Earn Points During SPG Restaurant Month

I’m a little behind in getting this posted, but from January 10th – February 10th some Starwood Preferred Guest hotel restaurants in North America are offering prix-fixe meal for SPG members that comes to $20.13 for lunch or $30.13 for dinner (plus additional SPG discounts of 10 – 30%).  The good news is that can be a pretty good deal at some of these restaurants (especially when combined with the additional % off for SPG members), but the bad news is that there doesn’t seem to be a good way to check out the menus ahead of time short of potentially reaching out to each individual restaurant beforehand. In fact, it seems some restaurants aren’t quite up to speed on the promo at all.

However, if your plans take you near one of the participating restaurants it can be a good idea to check and see if the menu is one that would interest you.  Keep in mind that you can also earn SPG points for the meal (even if you aren’t staying at the hotel), and get the additional SPG discount that you can check for online by clicking on the individual restaurants.  You do have to ask for the discount and potentially show some proof of being an SPG member.

You can check out this Flyertalk thread for info on how this promo is playing out in real life.

Have you been able to take advantage of SPG restaurant month?  What did you think?

Thanks to Mommy Points reader Lauren for the reminder about this promo!

  1. Believe it or not, there are some restaurants where you can get the discount, but not earn points even when the bill is charged to your room. Case in point, JG steakhouse at the Phoenician, which is independently owned and does not grant Starpoints. We’ve eaten there several times over the years while staying at the Phoenician, including last week, and this has always been the case.

    • PSL, that is strange that they would give an SPG discount but not award points. You would think it was all or nothing. Weird!

  2. What a timely post. I just checked in for a week at the Sheraton Dallas for a conference. I’ll let all my co-workers know we get 10% off food at the lobby bar.
