June Shopping Portal Payouts

Happy June 1st!  As I do each month, I want to summarize some of the payout changes in the online shopping portals.  Since Father’s Day is coming up, expect to see many portals with bonuses on stores geared toward Father’s Day presents this month. In case you aren’t overly familiar with how the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal works, then head to this post for detailed instructions.  While the Ultimate Rewards portal doesn’t always have the best payout (or the most retailers), they do seem to have some of the better customer service when something goes wrong with the points posting, so keep that in mind as well.

To access the Ultimate Rewards card you must have a card that earns Ultimate Rewards such as Chase Freedom Visa, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Ink Plus® Business Card.  Here are some of the payouts I saw at some popular retailers:

Ultimate Rewards:

Apple 2x

Anthropologie 5x

Brookstone 8x

Golfsmith 5x

JC Penney 7x

Pottery Barn 2x

Sears 4x

Kohl’s 10x

Magazines.com 30x

Lowes 5x (remember the Freedom Q2 bonus category is 5x at Lowes, so this stacks)

Brooks Brothers 8x

Sephora 8x

Sunglass Hut 8x

Nutrisystem 20x

Target 2x

J. Crew 5x

Bass Pro Shops 5x

drugstore.com 5x

*Westin and other SPG brands are not currently on the UR portal

AAdvantage Shopping:

Home Depot 6x (expires 6/2)
Nordstrom 8x
JC Penney 12z
Bose 6x
Webroot 45x

United MileagePlus Shopping:

For some of the MileagePlus payouts you must have a United co-branded credit card and be logged in to your account

Gap 6x
Lab Skincare for Men 9x

British Airways E-Store

Drugstore.com 8x

ShoeBuy.com 12x

Neiman Marcus 8x

Fossil 12x

US Airways Dividend Miles Storefront:

Maui Jim 10x

Southwest Rapid Rewards

Walgreens 3x

Remember to compare these rates to other portals to make sure you are getting the best payout possible.  You can use a site like evreward.com to quickly compare different portal payout rates for a given retailer.  However, especially for a large purchase, I would manually compare the portals myself to make sure I am getting 100% accurate info on the payouts and any possible bonuses.  Also, in recent months we have seen these payouts fluctuate some within the month, so don’t necessarily count on them remaining constant until June.

As always, an easy way to view all the changes for the Ultimate Reward and United MileagePlus Shopping payouts for the month is to head to Hiker T’s site. Did I leave out any good payouts you spotted?

  1. So glad Apple us still at 2x. My 5 year old MacBook is ready to be replaced but I didn’t quite figure out which new one to get. Glad my dithering didn’t cost me the extra points…as long as I decide this month.

  2. MP please remind everyone that the shopping portals often make big mistakes and dont post miles or make you jump thru huge and long time hoops to get the miles you set out to get. That all of the ones you listed are run by Cartera and they are notorious for this problem especially when there are promos or big miles per dollar score. Only the UR mall, which is also backed by Chase itself, tends to be able to at least do a better job of rectifying any errors or making them happen less.
It’s only fair to inform people that with such portals as these they are really taking a risk. It is NOT always a good way to count on miles or shore up an account. Thank you.

  3. Jamie, there are several different ways to get extra points on Apple, but honestly I like buying straight from the store using a credit card that gives me a warranty as well. Enjoy the 2x!
MM, always a risk, but I think problems are less widespread when you just make “normal” purchases. Personally, I have had no issue with any Cartera run portals, but you are right that UR gives the best chance of getting good customer service if something goes wrong!
