Update:  The time for entries ended at 5PM Eastern today (8/8).  The winner will be announced shortly!

Update #2:  The winner of the 30,000 SPG points is @jonmenaster who also wants to use his points to visit the Walt Disney World Swan!  Congrats to Jon and thanks so much to everyone who entered.  Expect a couple more of these giveaways this year!

Just as I promised yesterday in my review of the St. Regis Bahia Beach, today we are giving away 30,000 Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints in conjunction with my participation in a “SPG Stars” program.  This is a super fast giveaway that runs just six hours today only from 11AM – 5PM Eastern, so don’t delay if you want a chance to win!

The rules are very simple:

1. Follow me on Twitter @Mommy_Points

2. Tweet me letting me know which SPG hotel you’d visit with 30,000 Starpoints using the hashtag #spgamexMP

An example of an eligible Tweet would be:

@Mommy_Points I would spend three nights at the Walt Disney World Swan (Westin) for 10k points each! #spgamexMP  (you can even just copy and paste this Tweet if you want!)

3.  To be sure you are entered, make sure in the Tweet you have both @Mommy_Points and the hashtag #spgamexMP

The nitty gritty:

To be eligible you have to enter on Twitter between 11AM ET and 5PM Eastern today. You can find all the fine print of the promotion here. Some of the fine print includes:

  • You have to be at least 18 and a resident of the US to qualify
  • Only one entry is allowed per person/Twitter account
  • Winner will be selected at random
  • Winner is responsible for paying taxes on the value of the prize ($750 ARV with SPG points being valued at 2.5 cents per point)
  • A winner will be contacted within 24 hours and announced both here and on Twitter

Please let me know in the comments section if you have any questions (remember entries are accepted only on Twitter as outlined above).  These 30,000 points will pair perfectly with what you can get right now for getting one of the Starwood Preferred Guest credit cards.  Good luck!

  1. I am new to twitter and tweeting to you was my first tweet. However, I do not see it appearing on your page. It appears on my page. Did you receive my tweet? Thanks.

    • Keisha, if your twitter name is something similar to Keisha I don’t see it. Make sure you have the @Mommy_Points and the #spgamexmp in the tweet. What is your twitter name and I’ll see if I can see the problem.

    • Keisha, okay I see it when I search by hashtag (which is how they will be searching to select the random winner), so you should be good. Thanks for entering!

  2. Thanks! I love your blog! It is fun to follow a fellow Texan on all of your adventures 🙂 Travel is one of my passions that I wish everyone could experience and you show how it is possible for even more people! Keep up the good work 🙂

  3. I’m curious. Who values the points at 2.5 cents per mile for tax purposes? I would put them at 2.0 cents or less per point.

    • Andy, the group running the contest and handing out the W-9 does. I actually think it is a fair valuation of SPG points, but of course for tax purposes it would always be nice if they were less. 😉

  4. First time ever using twitter. I hope I did it right but I don’t see it on your twitter page. It would have come from AZJenny123.

I love your blog, by the way. I travel with my 7 year old son and your blog is very useful to us.

  5. Allison and Michael – thanks and good luck!
Jennifer, I see it with the hashtag, so you are good. Thanks for the nice words about the site and good luck!

  6. Well, darn. I cannot access Twitter while at work, and the entry window will be closed by the time I can. Ah, well, there’s always next time!

    • Archon, bummer! Do you have a smart phone on you? There will be more giveaways this year with SPG points and another type of hotel points coming very soon (and that one isn’t on Twitter).

  7. Silly beginner question….I just think I sent a twitter (based on your instructions) but I don’t see it on your page. Did you receive it? I am kijo2133. Thanks. I have to admit that this hobby of points and miles is requiring me to learn the technology things that I said I would never do. Too bad my 13 year old niece isn’t here to help me:)

    • kijo, you look good to go! Not a silly question at all – and thumbs up for trying a new technology. Your niece would be proud. Good luck!

  8. Hi Mommy Points, Just wanted to say, ” Thanks!” for sharing the 30k points with us. I enjoy reading your blog every day! I just tweeted my second tweet to you. I hope I win!

    • Heather, oh no! Tweeted it throughout the day and had a post go out this morning. So sorry you missed it though. I have some other of my favorite hotel points coming up soon and that giveaway will run a few days. 😉

  9. No, I still use a dumbphone. And I work for a company that does a lot of federal work so IT security over the company network is pretty strict. 😉 I may have to bring my personal notebook to work and connect without using the office network/wifi.
