Huge shopping portal bonuses aren’t quite as common as they were a year or two ago, but they do still happen occasionally, and this is one of them. Just like last fall, the MileagePlus Shopping portal is offering 21x United miles for purchases from shoes.com for those with a co-branded United card. This is three times the normal rate, and it only lasts until September 2nd. Those without a United card are offered 15x, which is still pretty darn good.
Kids feet only keep growing, so even if you don’t need shoes right this second, odds are you will within a few months. I’m not advocating buying something you normally wouldn’t buy, but I can tell you that my family does time purchases that we know we are going to eventually make anyway with these types of limited opportunity mileage bonuses.
As always, do some price comparison shopping to make sure you aren’t over-paying just to get the miles, but do take the miles into account. Most people value United miles at least around 1.5 cents each, so that means a 31.5 cents per dollar spent “rebate” in the form of miles. If you value the miles higher or lower then adjust accordingly. Shoes.com does offer free shipping and free returns, and the MileagePlus portal lists a discount code of SECRET20 that should save you an additional 20%. Coupon codes not found on MileagePlus shopping may invalidate the miles earned, so just proceed with caution if you use other codes. With free shipping and a discount code, plus a 30 – 40% rebate/bonus in the form of United miles, I’m betting many of us could do quite well buying some shoes we need anyway.
Some other good limited time payouts that are much higher than normal in the United portal are:

Anyone else doing some fall shoe shopping with a hefty side of United miles?
