Happy Friday, here’s your quick miles and points round-up for the afternoon.

Free LaQuinta Points for Those With Free Time:

If you have some free time and want to try and win some LaQuinta points then check out the LaQuinta Play and Stay Game.  I haven’t played, am not going to play it, and can’t tell you anything about playing it other than some people have said it is fun and addictive.  The Frugal Travel Guy has more info about the game here or you can simply head straight to the game.

5,000 Bonus Miles From Rocketmiles for Hotel Bookings Three Days or Longer:

Bookings for at least 3 consecutive nights made through qualify for 5,000 bonus airline miles when the reservation is made using that link before 11:59PM CT on December 18, 2013 and the stay occurs before April 1st, 2014.  The bonus can’t be combined with other bonuses.

Singapore Airlines Award Space is No Longer Displaying on United (and potentially other partners):

As of today, no longer displays award space for Singapore Airlines as “Singapore Airlines and United have agreed to remove Singapore Airlines inventory from our award flight search results on and on the United Mobile App.  You will still to be able to book and change award reservations involving Singapore Airlines by calling our reservations lines.”  I am not totally clear yet on whether Singapore award space that is available to partners will be available via using another airline’s website or not.  If so, then it is an extra annoying step, but not overly terrible.  If it turns out the space isn’t available anywhere online even via a different website then having to call in and have agents manually check sounds like…fun.  You can read more about this at Hack My Trip.

Look at a Suite at the All-Inclusive Hyatt Zilara Cancun:

Heels First Travel (also on BoardingArea) took a trip to the new Hyatt Zilara Cancun (adults only) property, and has some of her review up here.  I’m always interested in new places to use Hyatt points, and while I’m more likely to head to the new family friendly all-inclusive Hyatt option than the adults-only, it was still nice to see some shots from the property.

Win Some United Upgrades:

The blog Globetrotter HQ asked me to share that they are giving away some Untied Global Upgrades that expire on January 31st, and so far the odds of winning appear pretty reasonable, so it may be worth an entry if you could put the upgrade to use before the end of January.  I have no affiliation with that giveaway beyond sharing the info here.  There are a few other United related prizes up for grabs as well.

Have a safe, warm, and dry weekend!

  1. Better start playing to win the hotel stays as there is a La Quinta in College Station for visits when LC becomes an Aggie!
