You can now register your Chase Freedom Visa to earn 5x Ultimate Reward points for the first quarter of 2014 in the categories of gas stations, and Starbucks, and movie theaters.  This 5x bonus will be in effect from January 1 – March 31st, but you can go ahead and get registration out of the way now using the link above.

Chase Freedom

The Chase Freedom rotating 5x bonus categories are an insanely easy way to earn 5x Ultimate Reward points (or 5% cash back) with an annual-fee-free card.  As you likely know, the 5x Ultimate Reward points are transferable to hotel and airline partners like United, Southwest, British Airways, Hyatt, Marriott, and more if you also have the Ink Plus® Business Card, Ink Bold® Business Card, or Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.
If you don’t have one of those cards then you can use the points toward gift cards or as cash back at one cent per point. There is a quarterly max of $1,500 at the 5x rate, so you can potentially earn 7,500 Ultimate Reward points per quarter with just $1,500 in spending.  That comes to potentially 30,000 Ultimate Reward points per year with just $6,000 in spending at 5x if you max out the bonus categories each quarter. If you or your spouse don’t yet have this card, the sign-up bonus has temporarily increased to 20,000 points after spending $500 in the first 3 months, so it is a good time to get the card if the 2014 bonus 5x categories will work for your family.
