My husband is a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan.  So, if you follow football, you know they had a 9-0 start on the year, and ultimately “died hard” in the first round of the play-offs.  Who blows a 38-10 lead at half-time?  Oh yeah, the Chiefs and the Oilers.  Needless to say we won’t be making any last minute plans to attend the Super Bowl this year, but here is a cool offering for those of you who are attending the “Big Game”, or just want to be a part of the peripheral action in New York City.

As they have done in conjunction with some other big events, Chase announced that from January 29 to February 2, United MileagePlus card members can visit a VIP Lounge at Guy Fieri’s Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar in Times Square to enjoy complimentary amenities and (non-complimentary) exclusive events.  Some of those events include celebrity chef dinners with Guy Fieri, Mario Batali, Dino Gatto and Emeril Lagasse; Q&A with football legends like Dan Marino, Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason; and big parties the day of the Super Bowl.  Complimentary beverages and snacks will be available in the main lounge for Chase United card holders from January 29 – February 1st.

Chase VIP Lounge

While access to the lounge is complimentary, the exclusive events seem to range from $50 – $100 each with limited availability, and often include food and drinks, so some of the events seem like decent deals for Manhattan.  Here are a few example of events that will go on sale for United co-branded cardholders in the coming days:

“In the Huddle” With a Football Legend $50:

  • Casual Question and Answer session with Dan Marino
  • Photos with the Dan Marino
  • Pre-autographed item
  • Light Bites and beverages

Celebrity Chef Dinner with Emeril Lagasse $100:

On January 30th enjoy a casual dinner which will include a sampling of some of the Emeril’s signature dishes presented at walk-around stations in a private dining room.  There are two different seatings and Emeril will make an appearance at both seatings.

Game Day Tailgate Party $75:

February 2nd from 11AM – 3pM: There will be football inspired hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and more than fifteen televisions for $75 per person.

Big Game Party $75:

February 2nd from 5PM – 1AM: Casual Walk Around Dinner and Open Bar during the “Big Game”

I visited a Chase lounge that sounds sort of similar to this one at the 2012 Olympics in London, and it was pretty fun.  There were not any charges for events there that I remember, but it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours and get some free food.  Though I will say it was pretty crowded and a little rushed, but I wasn’t at all upset for the price I paid.   For admittance to this VIP Lounge (located at 220 W. 44th Street in New York City), cardmembers will need to present their United MileagePlus Credit Card from Chase and valid identification. Entry is on a first come, first served basis, with limited reservations available for special events. For more info, or to buy tickets to the events, visit their website.

If you decide to visit the lounge I’d love to hear about it!

  1. Patrick, sounds like a portion is free, just not the special events. Enjoy!
Lauren, can’t wait to hear about it!

  2. Is this a practical joke? I just googled this restaurant and the menu lists dishes like Honky-Tonky Double Barrel Meat Loaded Blast and Guy’s Big Balls. The Football entree says it’s served in a black trash bag and thrown at you from 40 yards. I’m a little scared about those supposed free snacks. Yuck!

    • Chip, ha! The regular menu is quite interesting. Wouldn’t shock me if the lounge items are pretty universally safe, but you never know!

  3. Hi MP! great write up… sorry to hear your Kansas City Chiefs are out of the running for the Superbowl. As you know, I’m from Boston and a Patriots fan. I’m PRETTY SURE they are going to the Superbowl this year… I’ll check out the lounge and let you know! 🙂

  4. ^ Doesn’t matter for either of those two, because Broncos got the AFC spot. I got this email about the lounge as well and fully plan on checking it out when I’m there to watch Denver play whomever (hoping it’s SF) in the Super Bowl. It would be soo poetic of a finish for Revenge Tour 2013 to play them! But seriously…I’ve had a hotel/flight booked for nearly a year now. I got the Aloft Brooklyn for only 14k star-points total for 2 nights!! 😀

  5. Sadly, the Pats have lost. 🙁
In consolation, I booked my husband for a lounge session with Boomer Esiason, who was his idol growing up.
Also, we will be attending a couple of Broadway plays – it is 2-for-1 Broadway week (discount on selected plays and musicals between Jan 26 and Feb 2):

  6. We went last night and it was great. There was no line at the time. There was plenty of a food and they provide drink tickets as well. Way better than expected, but almost didn’t want to say anything because then it would get crowded, lol.
