Let’s be real, parents of young kids quite simply don’t have time to see movies in the movie theater.  That privilege is gone for many of us for years the second your child enters the world (other than for movies like Frozen)…but for everyone else, there is a solid deal returning this summer that makes going to the movies much more affordable.  No, this has nothing to do with travel, but it is very relevant to many of the rewards credit cards lots of us have sitting around thanks to our travel obsession hobby.

Legal residents of the 50 states + DC who have a valid U.S. issued Visa Signature can get a buy one get one free Fandango movie ticket on Fridays from April 25th – August 8th.  Select two or more movie tickets via for any film currently on sale for a Friday showing and receive the lowest price ticket in the order for free!  This is valid for a ticket up to $19.50 (including Fandango fees).  Is that really how much tickets cost now?!
Visa Signature Movies
There is a limit of one free ticket, per Visa Signature card, per 30 days following the date of purchase.  Of course, many of us probably have more than one Visa Signature card in our collections so this ‘limit’ probably isn’t very limiting.  Some of the popular travel cards that come as Visa Signature cards include: the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Freedom, British Airways Visa, Southwest Premier Card, United MileagePlus Explorer Card, Capital One Venture Card, Barclaycard Extra Points Visa, Citi HHonors Visa Signature, US Bank FlexPerks, and many more.

I hope to take advantage of this at least once this summer and hope some of you can benefit as well.   I love it when our rewards credit cards are rewarding in more ways than one!

  1. I wonder if this is good for Canadian movie theaters as well? Wife and I moved here last Sept but still have most of our US credit cards.

    • Sarah, that is the same result. You put in two and one of them becomes free. That means you are paying for one and getting one free.

  2. Has anyone had issues using an Ink Bold card not working? For some reason, mine wouldn’t work which I’m the primary user but my wife’s card did which she’s just a secondary authorized user.

  3. A little extra stardust for the movie ticket offer: I got my 2fer tickets (Train Your Dragon 2 is quite good, incidentally); then received an email from Fandango to get 2 free songs from Amazon using a code they provided. A glitch charged me for the songs. I contacted Amazon by chat and they instantly reversed the charges and gave me an additional two free songs. So for $10 I got 2 adult matinee tickets and 4 free songs from Amazon. I’m a cheap date and I love this! Thanks for your great travel tips.
