Flash Sale for Club Carlson Points: Cheaper Than Daily Getaways

As promised, Club Carlson is bringing us a Flash Sale of points “today only” from June 18 at 12:00 pm EST to June 19 at 11:59 am EST (though there will be others).  Instead of the regular rate of $7 for 1,000 points, you get a 75% bonus, so $7 buys you 1,750 points at a rate of $0.004 each, which is slightly cheaper than the Daily Getaways deal from yesterday that sold out.

Club Carlson Flash Sale

You can buy anywhere from 1,000 – 40,000 points per account, per calendar year.  That means the max you could buy via this deal would be 70,000 points for a total of $280.  If you have the co-branded credit card (last award night free) that is enough for a two night stay in a standard room at any of their properties world wide as their Category 7 hotels top out at 70,000 points per night.  Most of their properties are 50,000 points or less for a night in a standard room.

I may pull the trigger on this to top my account up to a nice round number.  According to Lucky, the transactions may be processing in a way that earns 10 points per dollar on the Club Carlson Premier Rewards Visa Signature® Card if you choose that as your payment source, so that would bring your total points haul up even higher.

You can learn more about using Club Carlson points via my post from yesterday on the Daily Getaway’s sale, or feel free to ask away in the comments section.  I think Club Carlson is a solid “secondary” points program for many families and I am happy to see points for sale at a pretty fair rate via this flash sale.  Of course, I don’t recommend buying points if you don’t have plans on how you will use them as that is a recipe for waste thanks to devaluations, award chart changes, etc.

  1. Maybe. What is the historical best purchase price? I remember a deal last winter, but can’t remember what it was. I like their hotels in Europe for my family.

  2. When is the last time they devalued things? With the Daily Getaways and now this, that’s a lot of points they are flooding the market with. Is devaluation coming soon?

  3. Their flash sales last year were the same price. They added a 7th tier just this spring to the award chart so I don’t think they would do anything to the award chart before 2015, but you never know for sure.

  4. I think Ms with bluebird via walmart is over, isn’it? almost nothing left to MS, you could barely find way to meet credit card spend
