It’s the first full weekend of the month (and also the day many are nursing “fireworks hangovers”), so that means you can get in for free to over 150 museums, children’s museums, zoos, gardens, and more if you have a Bank of America credit or debit card.  My own parents are in Washington DC today, and they were trying to brainstorm how to get the best deal possible into the Newseum as buying multiple tickets can add up as the regular price for adults in $22.95 each.  Luckily, their brainstorming got really simple when we remembered it was the first weekend of the month and they could use their trusty Spirit Airlines Bank of America credit cards to get in for free!  Don’t laugh, they love those cards!

To take advantage of this really solid offer just bring your Bank of America issued credit or debit card (the Alaska Airlines card is a pretty popular one in the miles and points world), your photo ID, and enjoy for free!  You may still have to buy the kids’ tickets if they don’t yet have their own debit card, but that is a big savings over having to buy tickets for everyone, and of course kids under a certain age often get in free .

I love that many of the museums on the list are really, really solid places to visit.  We have personally enjoyed options like the Newseum, Houston Zoo, Anchorage Museum, and more.  Now get off the couch and go have some (air conditioned) fun!

Have you ever taken advantage of the Museums on Us offer via Bank of America?

  1. Another thing to try to remember: Take BOA CC when traveling on first weekends. Thank you for the reminder.

My daughter is also on vacation in DC this weekend, but she doesn’t seem to have taken a BOA card 🙁

    • Miles, bummer! It does get hard to remember all the various perks. Hope this post helps you pack the boa card for the next time you need it!

  2. We’ve taken advantage of the Museums On Us program a few times in Chicago to go to the Shedd Aquarium which is very expensive. One thing to note is that EVERY member of your party needs to have a BOA account to get a free ticket… kids included. Personally, I think that is annoying because I am not looking to open a bank account for my toddler.
But at least we can get a couple adults tickets for free and that’s a good savings!
