AA 100,000 Mile Offer May Not Be Gone (yet) After All…

Gotta keep this short (cleaning day around here), but thanks to commenter Joe S in this post, I learned that the Citi Executive American Airlines 100,000 mile card that we have loved for most of 2014 may not be gone quite yet.  The application stopped working some over the last few days, but appears to be risen from the dead once again this morning.

Of course, proceed at your own risk with these sort of sign-ups, but the trusty Flyertalk thread seems to have success stories once again.

If you want in, this may be your chance.

Now returning to less exciting things like cleaning out closets and laundry….

  1. Thanks for letting us know. I ran over to flyer talk and applied for my hubby but the application is pending. They ask for him to call in with an application ID to provide additional information. It also states if he doesn’t call in with additional information and they have to get in touch with him, it may take longer to approve his application. UGH! Anybody else get this. Mine was approved right away a couple of weeks ago.

  2. Funny thing is–they called the house and asked to speak with him and he wasn’t here. I asked if there was any information that I could provide and they said “no, we need to speak to him.” Darn it! Really? I can answer any questions they may have. If I recall, the application asked for his work number but not necessarily his cell phone number. I could have provided that.

    • Got hubby to call this morning and they asked him a few questions. They had him move some of his credit line from another citi card to this one. Not a big deal. I really didn’t hear much of the conversation because I was on the other line trying to lower his AT&T bill. I saved $100 per month on his business AT&T acct and we got 100,000 AA miles. Not bad for a Monday morning.

  3. I’m going for the second 100k, then.

I can’t get enough AA miles. So far, two Europe trips on the books for only 40k +$85 each time… it’s tricky to get the flights without the fuel surcharges, but it’s worth it when you can.

  4. I just used the link for me and hubby each our 2nd cards – so we’ll see. I was auto approved and his said pending. Used the other points for our first FC trip to Hawaii. Wonder where we’ll go next…

  5. I own a small courier company and was wondering if I bought gas cards to give my drivers to fill up our vehicles do those purchases count towards the 10k spend requirement. Does manufactured spending, such as buying gift cards and loading them onto a bluebird for example work?

    • Yep – all of those examples work. You will also receive a $200 statement credit after your first purchase I believe.

  6. Thanks Dana…just applied and got this message:APPLICATION RECEIVED. Thank you Tee. We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision. Thank you for requesting a Citi Executive® / AAdvantage® World EliteTM MasterCard®.

    What does this mean?

    • Hubby got that message too for his 2nd card – from what I’ve read they usually just want an extra phone number or something simple. So not really sure.
