There are dozens and dozens of discount hotel booking sites out there – many of which I’m sure I haven’t even heard about yet.  No one site will have the lowest price 100% of the time, but one that I have personally turned to several times over the past year is Travel Pony.

This week Travel Pony is celebrating their one year anniversary with different discounts available each day.  I have noticed that over the last month or two they have made their site look like there are additional discounts at times when there really aren’t, but in this case the discounts for the anniversary really do stack on top of their ongoing discounts.  Think of this kind of like how department stores seem to always have a sale going on, but occasionally there actually is a legit sale on top of their “always going on” sales.

Travel Pony Discount

The discount today is $25 off a reservation of $250 or more using the discount code 25OFF250.  This does stack on top of their TPSAVINGS discount that seems to always be available with some properties.  I’m not sure if it stacks with the new customer bonus (my referral link) that gives you $35 off a reservation of $200 or more, but I would guess not.  If this is your first time to use the site you may be better off using the new customer offer.  Someone please correct me if I am wrong about those stacking.  It will stack with using any referral credits you may have to use from referring a friend or family member ($25 each once they complete a stay booked via Travel Pony).

Travel Pony Discount Hotel

One way I like to quickly eyeball if Travel Pony prices are actually lower is to compare their final all-in price after the discounts with the prices listed on  Also make sure to compare the price directly with the hotel’s website as you may be eligible for a better rate there by using AAA membership or other codes you are available to you.  Also factor in that bookings made via Travel Pony will likely not count toward hotel promotions, elite status credit, and earning hotel points.

Travel Pony does not display all hotels in all cities, but they do have a decent selection, and are worth a look if you have some travel plans coming up where using hotel points isn’t the best option.  Be on the lookout every day this week to see if a discount code pops up that will save you some cash on a future hotel reservation.

  1. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get the new user credit to stack with the extra savings code although it does stack with TPSAVINGS. TravelPony has confirmed this as well. Still good deals though!
