It’s clear that the 4th quarter of 2014 is going to be a good one for miles and points freaks like myself.  In past years we have seen interesting things happen in the 4th quarter when it comes to mileage earning promotions.  From big shopping portal payouts to the highest ever 70,000 point Ink Plus sign-up offer, things are looking good from an earning perspective for the next couple of months.

Today the American Airlines eShopping portal launched a new promo that awards up to 2,000 bonus American miles based on your cumulative spending in the portal from 10/1/14 – 10/16/14.

Spend $100 – $299 to earn 500 bonus miles

Spend $300-$499 to earn 1,000 bonus miles

Spend $500 or more to earn 2,000 bonus miles

AA Fall Shopping Bonus

This is on top of the miles you will earn via the very good payouts we have been seeing, including today’s temporary increases that include:

Old Navy 12x

Toms 12x

ULTA 12x

Old Navy HalloweenFamily shopping tip: Old Navy has some Halloween merchandise and baby costumers including this Disney shirt for just $9…might need to grab something for our ” Mickey’s Not So Scary” Disney trip next year!  I’m sure these prices will be much better than those at Disney.  Buy a $9 shirt and earn 108 American miles at 12x.  Not life changing, but not bad.  The purchase will also earn points on your rewards earning credit card, and make you a little progress toward triggering the new 500 – 2,000 mile bonuses.

Terms: From 10/01/14 to 10/16/14 11:59 PM EST receive a one-time bonus of up to 2,000 bonus miles from AAdvantage eShopping mall. Spend a cumulative amount of $100 – $299 to earn 500 bonus miles; spend a cumulative amount of $300-$499 to earn 1,000 bonus miles; or spend a cumulative amount of $500 or more to earn 2,000 bonus miles. Returns, shipping, taxes, gift card purchases, and certain products are not eligible for bonus; please see site for details on any coupon code details or usage restrictions. Please allow 8-10 weeks for bonus points to post to your account. Void where prohibited by law.

  1. Yeah, and based on past performance by Cartera (the shopping portal is run by Carter, NOT AA), if you do meet the spending requirements, you stand a 15% chance of ever seeing those miles. 🙁

    • Robert, I have been receiving all of mine and my bonuses like this one with no issue. I used to have a worse percentage on bonus payouts, but in the last year even those have been posting automatically. No guarantees of course, but the tracking really doesn’t seem to be much of a problem (at least for me) anymore.

  2. I had problems with two purchases not posting, but customer service was able to still award me the points. I think I know the problem though – I may have used an online coupn code to get additional money off or free shipping. The terms and condition say that this invalidates the bonus AA miles. As Mommy Points recommends, keep a spreadsheet with time, date, amount, website etc. – with these details the adjustment was posted within a day!
