One of my favorite hotel booking sites of 2014 has been Travel Pony. They have sometimes had rates much better than I was able to access on other sites – including directly from the hotel. I have had no issues with the stays I have booked through them (several completed ranging from a Holiday Inn Express to a Fairmont to a non-chain hotel). I’ve also cancelled some stays that were refundable with no issues, so all in all I have no complaints about the reservations I have made via Travel Pony.
I don’t love how in recent months that they have made the site look like there is always a percent off sale (kind of like a department store), but when they do these limited time flash codes they really do result in additional savings.
Today they are making their often very low prices 10% lower to the next 1,200 who take advantage of their code FLASHPONY at checkout! This does not stack with the $35 off they give new customers who are referred by a current member on reservations of $200 or more. However, you can stack the 10% off code with using referral credits you have earned via referring friends or family members. That is my referral link, you can feel free to leave your own referral code in the comments.
The downsides to TravelPony are that you can only book eight months out (though that’s not really a big deal), they have a limited number of hotel options in a limited number of cities, and you likely won’t get hotel points/stay credit due to booking via a third party site. Their limited footprint isn’t super limited as I have booked hotels in small towns, but they aren’t going to have all the hotel options that a site like Travelocity will.
So far I am 2/2 getting Fairmont credit when booked via Travel Pony and 0/3 getting IHG credit for stays booked via TravelPony. The amount I saved on the bookings made them worth it even without getting credit, but it is something to factor in if the price difference is minimal, or if you really need the stay to go toward elite status or a promo like Into the Nights.
I see hotels I was pricing yesterday 10% less today using the FLASHPONY code as it stacks with their consistent 10% – 45% “discounts” they always offer.
If you have some hotel stays to book, I encourage you to take a look as well! Have you found some hotel savings on Travel Pony?
