Update: Looks like the fares are now gone – congrats to those who moved fast enough!

Right now I am seeing the lowest round trip price from Houston to Hawaii that I have ever personally seen on a legit fare.  For just $380 you can fly round trip from Houston – Hilo on Delta on various dates through the end of the year.  Not surprisingly, I’m not seeing the fare during the peak summer travel times, but I saw some in spring, fall, and winter.  I also some mid-August dates that may work for a trip just before school starts.  Availability is minimal, but it is there.

Cheap Hawaii Flights

I would use something like ITA Matrix or even the Delta flexible search calendar to spot the lowest fares since they are only on certain days.  This fare likely will not last long at all, so get on it and take advantage of the free 24 hour cancellation policy if you change your mind later in the day.

Delta awards miles based on the selling price of the flight, but a V fare (as shown above) would still earn 50% flown miles with Alaska Airlines, so that would be where I would credit the miles from this flight.

If you have points from the Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite MasterCard® you could use about 38,000 of them to take advantage of this low fare and then get 3,800 back (10% rebate for redeeming for travel) for a net of just 34,200 points.  Plus, you would also earn over 4,000 Alaska Airlines miles for the flights.

Thanks Delta Points Mileage Run for sharing this deal!

  1. Me! Me! Me! Booked for November! I just returned a couple of weeks ago from the last DFW great fare on United. I’m thinking this one over for my 24 hour grace period. My dilemma is that I live at a regional airport in Colorado. Fares from my regional are over $1000pp RT so it’s a savings but a hassle to get to Houston. Fortunately we have miles to get there. It’s also a bit of a pain, flying from Colorado to Houston back up to Salt Lake to Honolulu. The prices from Salt Lake were stupid. Return is a bit of a pain as we fly HNL to Atlanta to Houston before we make our way back to Colorado. Oh well. The things we won’t do for a bit of Paradise!

Thanks for the heads up. Right after booking those fares are no longer available.

    • Jean, awesome! Bummer about going back through Atlanta. November is so far from now though that maybe there will be a schedule change between now and then you can work to your advantage to get re-routed.

      • Oh boy, I think I went a little bit wild. I eventually bought 6 RT tix as I found tickets to/from SLC to OGG for only $26 more. A much better routing. Then I found better dates for us in December so my husband and I are going out to lunch to figure out which set of tickets we’ll keep. I’m probably going to cancel the flights thru Houston as SLC is drivable from where I am in Colorado. Thanks again for the heads up!
