40% Off Purchased Hyatt Gold Passport Points for Elite Platinum and Diamond Members Through 7/31/15:

This 40% off purchased Hyatt points promo bring the price to 1.71 cents per point, which is a decent value considering I like to get 2 cents for my Hyatt points when I redeem, but I know not everyone redeems points in the same way.  In other words, this is not a “drop everything and buy now” price unless you have a specific redemption in mind where you know you will come out ahead.

40% bonus

As an example, let’s say that I wanted to go to the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa this Saturday night.  Since it is a peak summer weekend, the going rate for a room with two double beds is a whopping $491 (including tax and resort fee).  However, you can currently book the exact same room for 20,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points.  At 1.71 cents each, that comes to an out-of-pocket cost of $342, which is a pretty significant savings.  Even better than that, if you are a Hyatt credit cardholder who registered for the 20% returned points promo earlier this year you will only end up really spending 16,000 points for the night at an effective price of $273 for the night, which is a a 45% savings over the cash rate.

I’m sure there are plenty of cases where the math does not work in your favor if you purchase points at 1.71 cents each, but sometimes it can result in huge savings over paying cash for the room.

  1. Pretty sure that first bit about the Vegas promo says “earn up to 1,500 bonus points,” which means there is a limit to the number of points you can earn.

    • It also says earn the points after every third night and no limit so I’m confident it means no limit and the “up to” part is in reference to the 500 – 1500 range every 3 nights.
