Baby S says, “Smile, it’s Friday!” Here are a few quick updates from the world of miles and points…
Last Day to Register for Hyatt Elite Tier Offer (for now):
Via Hyatt Gold Passport Concierge on Flyertalk, today is the last day to register for the fast track “Elite Tier Offer” for Diamond status due to some “upgrades” to their system that will be taking place. If you register by today (July 31st) you will have 60 days to complete the trial. Those who participate in the trial receive trial Platinum membership for 60 days. To maintain Platinum membership through February 2017, member must complete six (6) eligible nights at any participating Hyatt worldwide within 60 days of enrollment. If member completes twelve (12) eligible nights at any participating Hyatt worldwide within 60 days, member will receive Diamond membership through February 2017. Eligible nights at M life resorts will not count toward promotion
Somewhat similar to the Aeroplan promo I wrote about here, United offering a 25% bonus when you convert hotel points into a minimum of 5,000 award United miles, up to 20,000 bonus miles. You must register for the promo that runs through August 31, 2015.
In most cases this still isn’t a very good deal unless you really want to top off to an award threshold. One exception might be the Marriott Hotel + Air packages if you happen to have a pretty large number of Marriott points available and want a 7 night stay in addition to some United miles.
This isn’t huge news, but worth a mention that beginning tomorrow (August 1st), United is changing up their amenity kits for premium cabin long-haul international flights to include skin-care products from Cowshed. The kits will include “a refreshing towelette, eye shades, lip balm and cozy socks, among other great items.” The bag that contains the kit also appears to be an upgrade over the previous version.
Buy One Get One Free Movie Tickets with Visa Signature and Fandango:
Just as they have been doing all summer, Fandango and Visa Signature have teamed up to offer cardholders a free movie ticket worth up to $19.50 on Fridays when you buy two or more tickets via Fandango. This offer is valid from April 24th to August 21st. This year Chase Visa Signature cardholders get extra time by being able to purchase tickets on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays for a Friday showing (great when the show you want may sell out by Friday). Other Visa Signature cardholders can only purchase on Fridays for Friday shows.
There is a limit of one free movie ticket per 30 days per card, but I’m betting lots of you have way more than one Visa Signature card. There is also a stipulation of a maximum of one ticket per registered email address per 7 day period regardless of the number of Visa Signature cards. Sorry to those from other countries, but this offer is said to be for US issued Visa cards only.
Get Into Museums and More Free with Bank of America Cards:
The first weekend of each month (like this weekend) your Bank of America issued debit and credit cards can get you into 150 various museums, botanical gardens, zoos, and aquariums in 32 states via their “Museums on Us” program. Examples of participating museums include: Children’s Museum of Manhattan, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, Anchorage Museum, Houston Zoo, Denver Zoo, and the Newseum in Washington DC.
Each cardholder gets one free general admission ticket, so make sure you and your partner each bring your own debit or credit card. Free admission is valid on Saturday and Sunday at most locations, but check the map linked above to be 100% sure.
