One of the rewards credit cards we signed up for this year is the Citi ThankYou Premier Credit Card because of the 50,000 point sign-up bonus points and the 3x bonus points it earns on travel. However, now the offer is even better than we got!
Note this is not an affiliate link, just a better-than-average offer that you should know about!
Via this offer you can get 60,000 sign-up bonus points after spending $3,500 in the first 3 months and the $95 annual fee is waived for the first 12 months. I have no idea how long this 60k point offer will be available, but I’d personally move on it sooner than later if you are interested.
If you aren’t familiar with this card, know that it earns 3x ThankYou points on travel in the following categories:
- Gas Stations
- Public Transportation
- Taxis and Tolls
- Parking Garages
- Airfare and Hotels
- Car Rental Agencies
- And more…
It also earns 2x ThankYou points on dining out and entertainment (concerts, sporting events, movies and more). It earns 1x on other purchases. There is no cap on the max number of points that can be earned and points do not expire.
Redeeming Citi ThankYou Points:
You can redeem your ThankYou points earned via this card in their Travel Center on airfare, hotels, cruises, etc. at a rate of 1.25 cents per point. If you also have the Citi ThankYou Prestige card, the ThankYou points earned via the Premier card can be redeemed for 1.6 cents per point on American Airlines, which is a very good option. Keep in mind you will also earn American Airlines miles on those tickets! You can also redeem ThankYou points on gift cards at a rate of one point = one cent (don’t do that).
Another option is to transfer the ThankYou points to their list of hotel and airline partners, which may sound like an eclectic selection of partners, but they can be pretty useful if you know how to leverage some of their award charts. I’m particularly fond of the opportunities for Star Alliance flights via the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program. All of the transfers are 1:1 except Hilton that is 1:1.5
