Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express  Is No Longer Available through this Site.

Great news today for those who like to travel on hotel points as two American Express Hilton Honors cards have temporarily upped their sign-up bonuses this morning to pretty massive levels! The Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express is now offering 100,000 Hilton Honors points and the Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express is now offering 80,000 Hilton Honors points after hitting their respective minimum spending thresholds through 5/31/2017! Terms Apply.

The two cards are considered different products, so you can theoretically have both and should be able to get each sign-up bonus individually, though note that both bonuses are listed as available only to those who have never had that specific product before so make sure you don’t apply for something you have or had in the past.

Hilton Honors Surpass Awarding 100,000 Hilton Points

First up there is the Hilton Honors™ Surpass® Card from American Express that awards 100,000 Hilton Honors points after you spend $3,000 in the first three months. This card awards 12x points at Hilton properties, 6x at U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations, and 3x on other eligible purchases. The card comes with Hilton Gold status which can get you perks like lounge access, snacks, late-check out, better rooms, or more depending on the specific Hilton property type you are visiting, and it also awards top tier Hilton Diamond status if you charge $40,000 per calendar year on the card. It has been quite a while since I remember seeing this offer jump up to the 100,000 point mark, so this is a very good time to get this card, especially since there is a new perk added.

Hilton Honors Card Awarding 80,000 Hilton Points

Next, there is the temporarily increased offer available from the Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express. This card has recently offered 50,000 bonus points to new customers, but it has now jumped up to 80,000 Hilton Honors points after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months and there is no annual fee! I’ve never seen the public sign-up bonus for this card this high!

The Hilton Honors Card awards 7x for Hilton charges, 5x for U.S. restaurants, U.S. supermarkets, and U.S. gas stations, and 3x for other eligible purchases. This card provides Hilton Silver elite status to card holders or if you spend $20,000 on the card per calendar year you are awarded Hilton Gold status.

Using Hilton Honors Points

Hilton Honors recently did away with their award chart, but even still, but sign-up bonus Honors points can go quite a long way at some properties, though note that properties are the upper end of their scale can get kinda pricy as can rates at any property for premium rooms. Some good news is that Silver, Gold and Diamond Elite Members get every 5th night free when booking a Standard Room Reward, and both of these cards give you elite status that would qualify. This means that on a five night award stay you only really pay for four award nights.

I personally have my eye on some Hilton properties on The Big Island that seem to range from 30,000 – 50,000 Hilton Honors points per night depending on the property and night.

The Hilton Embassy Suites brand, such as the one I stayed at here, is particularly a good one for families to look for on their travels since it offers suites, complimentary evening drinks and snacks, as well as free full hot breakfasts in the morning. While it can range tremendously, it is not uncommon to find some Embassy Suites type properties in the range of 30,000-ish Hilton points on many nights.

Also note that as of April 2017, Hilton Honors will allow for the free pooling of points between up to eleven people! This may mean it makes sense to talk your friends or family members to go for one or both of these offers and then you can all share in the points to plan an epic trip!

Hilton Honors is not my primary hotel loyalty program, but it is a program that works for many families because of their massive footprint of properties around the globe, as well as their family friendly brands such as Embassy Suites. Since you can only get these sign-up bonuses once it makes sense to do it when they are at their historic peaks, and that means applying by 5/31/2017 if you want in on the increased bonuses from these two Hilton Cards!
