I used to be pretty bullish on the Club Carlson program as their promotions for paid stays were outstanding and their co-branded credit card awarded the last night of any award stay for free. This turned two night award stays into BOGO situations. However, in recent years they have reigned in promotions, cut out their credit card award perk, and as a result are no longer quite as interesting to most miles and points enthusiasts, self included.
All that said, Club Carlson isn’t to be totally ignored because they have some very solid properties in places like Scandanavia where other programs are relatively weak. As an example, a few years ago we had a very good time at the Radisson Blu ski-in property in Trysil, Norway. Closer to home, a Country Inn and Suites property in Minnesota also came through for us in a pinch last year for some last minute Ryder Cup plans.
New Club Carlson Triple Points Promo
Now Club Carlson has a new promotion from April 3 – June 30, 2017, that awards 3x points on all eligible stays + a 5,000 point bonus for every Sunday and Monday night, up to 100,000 bonus points. The 3x portion of this promo means that you are earning 60 Club Carlson points per eligible dollar spent instead of the regular 20 points per dollar.
To put this into real numbers, a two night paid stay at a Club Carlson property on a Sunday and Monday night at around $100 per night would translate $100 x 2 nights x 60 points per dollar + 5,000 points per night = 22,000 Club Carlson points for a relatively inexpensive two night stay thanks to this promo.
Club Carlson award nights start at 9,000 points per night, though the award chart goes up to 70,000 points per night so keep that in mind if you have your eye on some higher tier properties.
Points + Cash stays are not eligible for this promotion. Registration is required before checkout of your stay in order for it to count towards this bonus…so go ahead and do that now just in case so you don’t miss out on bonus Club Carlson points.
