Today’s Daily Getaways deal will appeal to some who frequently rent cars in more expensive markets as Avis car rental certificates that will be available for $30 each. The Daily Getaways is an annual sale put on by the US Travel Association that acts as their annual fundraiser. There is one new offer available at 1PM Eastern per weekday for five weeks, and those offers can vary from discounted hotel points, to theme park tickets, to rental car points, to hotel packages, and more.

Avis Car Rental Certificates for $30 Per Day

Today you can purchase up to seven one-day Avis car rentals valid on up to a Premium (Group G) car for $30 per certificate/day. There are 800 available and I do expect them to sell out. The certificates are valid at any participating Avis location in the U.S. (excluding the New York Metro area), Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

While there are certainly plenty of times when you can get a car rental for less than $30 per day, there are also situations in some higher priced markets when paying $30 per day for up to a Premium car can be a deal compared to other offerings.

These Avis certificates must be used for rentals by May 15, 2018. The Terms and Conditions listed below do indicate that there are blackout dates, though what those dates are isn’t spelled out. I will say that in my five years covering the Daily Getaways, I have never heard anyone share a bad experience with these certificates, but that term is still worth a mention.

In addition to the $30 Avis rental certificates, you can also purchase Avis President’s Club status today for $750. This is a lower level status than the Chairman’s Club status they had available in some previous years and not something I am personally interested in pursuing.

Have you used these Avis certificates in the pas,t or do you plan to go for some today?

  1. What is it with rental cars and NYC. They cost 3X more there than anywhere else in the country. I can’t imagine that rental car parking spaces are much more expensive at Newark than at Logan or DCA. Of course, they don’t want anything to do with these coupons and you cant use them in NYC.

This seems most appealing for urban folks without cars who may need a last minute rental or someone who rents in a high tax jurisdiction a lot. For me, I’ll stick with National executive aisle (through CSR) when affordable and Costco car rentals when National is too expensive.
