If you have a little time on your hands today, and you want to potentially turn a little digital photo art project into a million airline miles, then this is your last chance to enter to win your portion of 21 million Star Alliance miles as part of their 20th anniversary giveaway. Each of the 21 Star Alliance programs are giving away a million miles, or a similar equivalent. This is not a random giveaway, but rather a contest that involves submitting some text and visual information to highlight a special and unique cultural experience that you have had along your travels.
You can enter once through just one frequent flyer program, and each program will pick one winner from their program specific entries. This means it may make sense to enter via a smaller program that may have fewer overall entries than a program you know is quite larger such as United’s MileagePlus, though who really knows which programs will get fewer entries. You do have to be a member of the program through which you enter, but that is usually easy enough to accomplish online.
The deadline to enter is tomorrow, July 31, 2017, and winners will be announced on September 28, 2017. If you want to try your hand at this, you will want to put some effort into it by coming up with some cool photos to use instead of just using the first thing that comes to mind since you can only enter once. Their photo app will combine your two required images as shown below into one photo. One should be a selfie/portrait of yourself and the other is of a unique cultural experience – these can then be combined into some pretty cool images as you can see here.
I’m hoping today or tomorrow myself, but I just have to pick which program I want to go through. You have to be 18+ to enter, so your kiddos sadly have to sit this one out.
Entries will be judged by the following considerations:
- How good was the visual quality of the image submitted?
- How effectively did the entire entry (text + visual) accentuate and bring forward the special and unique attributes of a cultural experience and the connection of people and cultures?
- How original and creative were the submitted materials?
Are you going to try your hand at this contest? What would you do with a million miles…
