Once upon a time I somewhat regularly coordinated some meet-ups in the Houston area with fellow miles, points, and travel fans. And then I had a second kid…and it sadly hasn’t happened since, or at least I should say I haven’t been involved with one since. I really miss getting together with others in the area who share the love of traveling more for less, so I was thrilled that Richard of Award Travel 101 fame is putting together a meet-up in Houston this Saturday, August 5th at the Hyatt Place Houston Galleria. If that link doesn’t work, you may need to join the Award Travel 101 Facebook group first.
I will be joining him for some fun and maybe a little Q&A panel!
The event officially runs from 5:30P – 7:30P and the agenda includes “drinks, travel stories, a few redemption sweet spots, and showing a film crew from USA Today all about the culture of points and miles.”
This is not a formal presentation sort of event, but rather a good excuse to hang out with like minded folks for a couple of hours and chat miles and points fueled travel. While the internet is great, nothing can replace in-person discussions and making contacts with others in the area who you can share tips with and vice versa.
It looks like the Hyatt Place Galleria is currently sold out for that night, but there are plenty of other hotels in that part of town if you wanted to spend the night. If you are in the area, I hope you can make it out! For more info, head to the Award Travel 101 Facebook group and click on events.
