If you know any US citizens or permanent residents aged 62 or older who may possibly ever want to go to a national parks or lands, then they need to know this is their last chance to get in on one of the best deals in travel. It’s certainly the best $10 deal in travel…for a few more days.

The $10 lifetime senior pass is such a deal because admission to our beautiful National Parks while always worth it, usually isn’t free, and can be $20 – $30 per vehicle, depending on the park. This pass gets in not only the senior who carries it, but the whole car full they are traveling with!

$10 Lifetime America the Beautiful Senior Pass Price Increase on August 28th

On August 28, 2017, the lifetime pass price jumps to $80, which is still worth it for travelers, but it isn’t nearly the ‘no brainer’ of a deal that the $10 pass is. All eligible senior pass orders postmarked before August 28 will be processed at the $10 price and orders postmarked after August 28 will be processed at the $80 price. There is an additional $10 processing fee for online and mail orders whether you apply before or after August 28th, so if you can get to an eligible location in person before August 28th then you will save on postage and handling.

My dad has had the $10 Senior America the Beautiful Pass since he first became eligible a few years ago, and my family has put it to good use multiple times to save on their travels to places like Mesa VerdeArchesRocky Mountain National ParkDenali, Bryce, Acadia, and more. Next up they will be showing their pass at Yellowstone next month to avoid the normal $30 per car price of admission. My dad has had his pass for years, but my mom went ahead and got one this month at the $10 price in case she ever travels to a park without him, or he simply loses his at some point as they are not replaceable if lost without paying for a new one.

How to Purchase the $10 Senior America the Beautiful Pass

To order your $10 Senior America the Beautiful Pass before the price increase you have a couple of options.

1. You can order and pay for the senior pass online. Until recently, after you submitted your order, you were prompted to upload documentation of your US citizenship and date of birth, however it now seems that a digital verification against existing databases is possible in many cases.

2. You can also order by mail via a paper form and send in copies of the required documentation.

3. You can get one in person and save the $10 processing fee and the substantial wait time to have your online or mailed order fully processed. Here is a list of sites that issue passes in person. Be sure to bring your ID if you head to an in-person site.

The website does state that because of the 12 week backlog for online orders, for now your order confirmation will be honored for use at agency sites, so you don’t have to wait for your actual pass to be delivered to start using your new perks.

  1. My husband got one when he became eligible and we used it last summer at Haleakala National Park in Maui and viewed an amazing sunrise.
