A few days ago I talked about some of the targeted promotions that SPG is putting out for fall travel, but now we know what their major public promo will look like. From September 12, 2017 – January 15, 2018, those that register by November 30, 2017, can earn 500 – 1,000 bonus Starwood Preferred Guest points per eligible stay at participating SPG properties.
In addition, those that register will earn 10,000 bonus SPG points with 25 or more eligible nights during that same time period. Whether you earn a 500 or 1,000 point bonus per eligible stay depends on which type of SPG property you visit.
- Earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints per stay at St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Le Méridien, Westin, Sheraton, Tribute Portfolio and Design Hotels
- Earn 500 bonus Starpoints per stay at Aloft, Element and Four Points
- Earn 10,000 bonus Starpoints when you stay 25 or more nights
Unfortunately, stays booked with Free Night Awards or using Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. This obviously isn’t a super exciting promo, but it isn’t terrible, especially if you happen to have lots of short stays at the types of SPG properties that award 1,000 bonus points per stay. Considering that SPG award stays start at 2,000 points per night, it can add up relatively quickly. On the flip side, I would not go out of my way to take advantage of this new SPG promotion either.
What are your thoughts on the new SPG bonus points promo? Does it stack nicely with any other SPG promos that you were targeted for?
