Starwood has updated their SPG Moments offerings this morning with some World Series ticket packages, and I have related good news, bad news, and sort of strange news.
First, the good news is that there are many MLB World Series packages now available ranging from a pair of tickets to one of the World Series games to even throwing out the ceremonial first pitch in games 4 or 7. Remember when Dan’s Deals won that auction last year for like a million SPG points?! There seem to be about 10 pairs of tickets per World Series game available plus some of the VIP experiences.
The bad news is that all of the SPG Moments World Series offerings are all currently being run as auctions, which means you can’t just log on and purchase the tickets you want using your SPG points they way you have been able to thus far in the postseason. You have to deal with the uncertainty of the bidding process and see how high the stakes will rise. The bids start at 5,000 points for a pair of World Series tickets, but you know they will go much higher than that. The Game 1 auctions close in five days and the others will follow suit accordingly after that. If the Astros can start putting together a couple more wins in the ALCS I very much would love to go to the World Series, but I may be priced out via a points auction. Of course, if they make it, maybe there won’t be any Houston fans with SPG points and the prices will be reasonable…one can hope.

In the stranger news category, it looks like SPG Moments has a fully functioning crystal ball as you can not only bid SPG points for World Series Games, but for 2017 World Series Games to be played at Wrigley Field! I seriously had to Google to make sure I hadn’t missed something, but no, the Cubs have not yet made the 2017 World Series and in fact trail the Dodgers in the series 0-2 at the moment. However, you can still bid your SPG points for World Series luxury suite tickets and more at Wrigley Field. I’m sure the points get refunded if the Cubs don’t make a return World Series appearance this year.
I’ll keep my eye on these packages, especially if the Astros can get just two more wins in the ALCS. Otherwise, I apparently have to wear Yankee gear, and I strongly prefer orange this time of the year.
If you have used points and the SPG Moments program to enjoy some of this MLB postseason, I’d love to hear about your experiences!
