The Houston Astros head back to their home turf to play Games 3, 4, and (Lord willing) 5 of the 2017 World Series this weekend, and the best hotel to stay at when heading to an Astros game is absolutely the Westin Houston Downtown.
However, while the hotel would be perfect for those heading to the World Series in Houston, rooms for the nights of those games are selling for $899+ per night and points rooms were blacked out as it was a “special event”. The great news for those looking for the perfect World Series hotel is that the points situation at the Westin Houston Downtown has now changed quite a bit.
Before we get to the good stuff, know that the Westin Houston Downtown is literally across the street from Minute Maid Park. If you are staying there, you can just pull up to valet park your car within feet of the stadium and head up to your room after the game while the rest of the crowd tries to empty out of downtown. During a big post-season Astros’ game, just getting out of downtown Houston can easily take over an hour, so staying across the street and not dealing with the post-game crowd is fantastic.
While points rooms were not available at this hotel the nights of the World Series a few days ago, that has changed, and now instead of paying $899+ per night, you can book a room for just 12,000 SPG points on this coming Friday night (Game 3) or Sunday night (Game 5). There is still no points availability on Saturday night.
Heck, even if you aren’t going to the game, just staying at a hotel right across the street and being in the middle of all the excitement and activity would be a ton of fun and a great use of 12,000 SPG points in my book. If you are interested in booking a room on points at the Westin Houston Downtown I would move quickly as availability could change at any point.
Huge thanks to Brian on Twitter for spotting this big change in award availability! Anyone heading to the games this weekend to root on the Astros?!
