I’ve held off until now, but I think my official holiday shopping is kicking off today as the opportunities to scoop up deals while earning tons of miles have truly arrived. I already outlined three big holiday airline shopping site bonuses here, but the real magic comes when you stack one of those bonuses with a huge retailer payout and a category bonus from a rewards-earning credit card. Right now all three of those things are lining up if you like to make purchases online at Saks Off Fifth.
I’ll breakdown how to stack these opportunities in order to to earn miles and save at the same time. Just remember, even with big mileage payouts, you usually don’t come out on top if you are buying things you don’t need or otherwise wouldn’t have spent money on just for the miles. Unless, of course, you are a reseller, but that is a whole other story…
How to Earn Up To 23x Miles and Points at Saks Off Fifth
Via a today-only offer (11/2/17), you can earn 15 American AAdvantage miles per dollar for purchases made online at Saks Off Fifth via the American AAdvantage Shopping Site. For those not familiar, this is a discount branch of Saks Fifth Avenue where designer shirts that used to be like $200 are now $30. In other words, this is my kind of place.
Earning 15x at Saks Off Fifth is pretty great by itself, but you can also stack that increased one-day offer with earning up to 4,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for cumulative purchaess made via AAdvantage Shopping from October 30 – November 19, 2017.
On top of all of that, if you pay for your order with a Chase Freedom that has activated the 4th quarter 5x bonus of department stores (up to $1,500 quarterly max), then you are now in some pretty crazy mileage earning territory.
To demonstrate how all of this stacks, let’s assume you wanted to make $150 in purhcases today at Saks Off Fifth. That’s enough to trigger their free shipping with code SHIP99 and hopefully you found some great deals to add to your cart – goodness knows I did.
That $150 in purchases at 15 American miles per dollar will earn you 2,250 American Airlines miles. Even if you did no other shopping from the AAdvantage site this month, that would also trigger a 500 mile bonus from their holiday bonus miles promo.
If you paid for the order with your Chase Freedom, you could also add 5x points to that earning total from Chase. Adding all of that up, you would earn 2,750 American Airlines miles and 750 Chase points for one $150 purchase. That works out to a pretty crazy 23 miles and points per dollar spent!
Turning holiday shopping into tons of miles and points is one of my favorite hobbies, so I’ll be sure to share more opportunities like this one as they come up in the next few weeks.
