A few years ago there was a pop-up United Club in the Houston Galleria during the holiday shopping season and it even though it had some pretty basic offerings, it was still neat to have a place where you could retreat, have a snack, and take a break from the holiday shopping craziness. While in London for the Olympics several years ago, Chase had an even cooler pop-up lounge for their Visa cardholders, and now the game has been upped again as there will be an Amex Centurion Lounge pop-up location in London during select dates this holiday season!
This pop-up is coming to one of London’s private members’ clubs, The Hospital Club, that is located in London’s Covent Garden. Amex Platinum® Card and Amex Centurion Members + up to two guests will be invited to enjoy food from Centurion Lounge chef partners, drinks from Centurion Lounge renowned mixologist Jim Meehan, entertainment, gift wrapping, and holiday tips related to shopping, clothing, and decorating. You will need to have your eligible Amex card with you to gain complimentary entrance. There is no limit to the number of times you can visit.
The Centurion Lounge Pop Up Lounge at the Hospital Club is located at 24 Endell St, London, WC2H 9HQ and will be open November 24th – November 26th and then again December 1st – December 3rd from 11AM – 8PM.
On those dates, there will be complimentary food and drink all day with the Centurion Lounge chef partners contributing a recipe for the cocktails and canapes served from 5PM – 7PM each day. The full bar will also offer two special custom holiday cocktails from top mixologist Jim Meehan and handpicked wine selections by Anthony Giglio
Along with the food and drinks, the Pop-Up Amex Centurion Lounge will offer:
- Gift wrap service plus personalized calligraphy tags
- Family Area with holiday movies and games
- Semi-Private Work Space
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Activities include snow globe making, make your own home fragrance, surprise beauty services and brunch with Santa Claus, who will join The Centurion Lounge on Saturdays to pose for photos and hand out surprise gifts
I am sure that those who live in or frequently visit London will hope that this is a sign that Amex is interested in putting a Centurion Lounge at Heathrow, and perhaps it is. That said, Heathrow is so massive and segmented that even if there were an Amex Centurion Lounge, there is no way that it could serve all of those eligible Amex cardholders flying through Heathrow. Still, London is a logical place for Amex to focus, and I’m excited for those who can drop into the pop-up Centurion Lounge location during one of the upcoming busy holiday weekends to enjoy some free food, drinks, and activities.
If you make it to the lounge, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
