If you are looking for a “pre-holiday” award trip to see the holiday decor in NYC or even escape the winter weather and chill on the beach in Miami, Delta SkyMiles may be your new best friend as they are offering domestic awards starting at just 5,500 miles each way when you book by December 9, 2017, and travel between November 28 through December 16, 2017.

You can check out their list of example fares here, but really the only good way to see what is available is to start doing some searches of your own as the good award fares are more plentiful than just the examples given.

Here is a rundown of the award fares I found, and note that most of these are available on a wide variety of dates and all are below the cost of the traditional 12,500 miles each way domestic saver award.

  • Austin – Boston 8,500 miles
  • Boston – Orlando 7,000 miles
  • LaGuardia – Miami 6,000 miles
  • Houston – LaGuardia 8,500 miles
  • Houston – Atlanta 5,500 miles
  • Houston – Seattle 9,000 miles
  • Seattle – Las Vegas 6,000 miles
  • Seattle – Anchorage 9,000 miles
  • Los Angeles – Houston 8,500 miles

At prices like that, it is affordable to load up the whole family for a little pre-holiday getaway.

Remember if you recently got a Delta co-branded credit card like the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express and you need to have a Delta charge in order to trigger the statement credit that came along with the sign-up bonus, the taxes on a Delta award flight are sufficient to get that done! If you are short on Delta SkyMiles you can transfer miles in 1:1 from Amex Membership Rewards.

Did you find any Delta award deals that will work for your family?
