I’ve become a Delta SkyMiles fan over the past year or two, not because they are perfect (they very much aren’t), but because SkyMiles can be far more valuable for award travel than I thought. Multiple times in the past year they have beat what the other programs can offer in terms of how many miles it takes to get where we want to be on a reasonable itinerary. In other words, they are now a very solid tool in my mileage toolbox whereas a few years ago I was ignoring them to my own detriment.
One of the times that Delta SkyMiles can be quite valuable is when they run their monthly Flash Sales and offer discounted award redemptions to specific destinations. This time around the flash sale destination is quite exciting as they have discounted some business class awards to Europe!
As you may know, Delta infamously has no award chart, but the normal lowest price these days for a round trip business class award to Europe is 140,000 SkyMiles, which for reference is roughly the same as what United would want using MileagePlus miles. However, via this flash sale, round trip business class flights in Delta One (their name for business class) from the US 48 and Europe start at just 98,000 SkyMiles! Going round trip to Europe in business class for under 100,000 miles is pretty darn good.
To get the discounted award rate, you must book by 11:59PM PT on December 14, 2017, and travel from February 1 – May 21, 2018. The only real way to know what is available is to hop on Delta.com and start doing some award searches using their 5 weeks flexible date view as shown above.
I searched a few routes and did find some 98,000 mile business class award flights, but availability at that rate is certainly limited, so having some flexibility is likely key to making this deal work for you.
Delta provided the following cities as eligible 98,000+ miles destinations.
