Hilton has announced their first 2018 bonus points promotion which they are calling “Points Unlimited”. This promo is now open for registration and officially launches January 1, 2018, and runs through April 30, 2018. Points Unlimited will give Hilton Honors members 2,000 bonus points per stay, plus an additional 10,000 Bonus Points on every five stays.

To put this into numbers, if you have ten eligible stays during the bonus promotion you would earn 2,000 bonus Hilton points x 10 stays = 20,000 bonus points, plus another 20,000 bonus points for having two sets of five stays. That means 40,000 bonus Hilton points for those 10 stays!

What I love about this promo is that it isn’t just frequent business travelers with lots of stays that can benefit, but even those who have just one or two stays at any hotel or resort in the Hilton portfolio (excluding Hampton by Hilton Hotels in Mainland China) in the promo timeframe can pick up 2,000 bonus points per stay as long as they registered before check-out. This even includes those who are staying on Hilton points!

Hilton has some great family-friendly brands, such as Embassy Suites with their all-suites layout, free breakfast, and a free evening reception, so be sure and register for the new Hilton promotion even if you aren’t sure whether or not you will be able to use it.

  1. So let’s say you stay 3 nights… you’ll get about $8 of points or less than $3 per night! And you can’t book the much, much cheaper rates via third party sites to get this deal. I’m always puzzled why there is so much hype around deals like this…

    • There are definitely ways to exploit it. If you were staying in Turkey, Egypt, or China, you could stay in Category 1 hotels, and get 20k back for every 25k you spend, making your stays almost free. Let’s ignore the rather rare Cat 1 hotels, though, and think about the more common Cat 2 Hiltons. Say I go to PTY (and I like Panama), I could stay at a couple of nice Cat 2s and for 10k each night, but this gets me 40% of my points back. That’s significant.

      • The terms state “A “stay” is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again”

So you are staying 5 separate, non consecutive single nights? That seems like a huge hassle

Also in places like Panama City you can get comparable hotels for $30/night cash so even if you end up paying 6,000 points/night (after the 40% back) it’s not a great value

  2. If you are gold or diamond and make a 1 night award stay at a cat 1 Hilton or doubletree hotel, it would be completely free – 4K promo plus 1k elite bonus.

    • Yes – I was going to get into that math, but backed off as I know most of us won’t be maxing this out and then staying at Cat 1’s, but for those who do, you are absolutely correct!

    • The bonus is valid on award stays. I’m not 100% sure what your question is, but I’m happy to try and help if you can help me understand.
