We knew that 2018 was going to be the year that the Citi Hilton credit cards transition to American Express Hilton card products, but even better than that news was that this is also the year when we get our hands on some brand new Amex Hilton Honors credit cards! Now that day is here, and the first brand new Hilton Honors card is available for applicants with a shiny sign-up bonus of up to 100,000 Hilton points to go along with it!

Earn up to 100,000 Hilton Honors bonus points

The brand new Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is being launched today with a sign-up bonus of up to 100,000 points, broken into two components. The first part of the bonus awards 75,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. The next 25,000 bonus points come after you make another $1,000 in purchases on your card in your first 6 months. In my mind, those are very reasonable spending targets for 100,000 Hilton Honors bonus points on this small business card!

This card does come with a $95 annual fee and terms apply.

Earn up to 12x Hilton points per dollar

In terms of ongoing spending, the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card awards 12X points at hotels & resorts in the Hilton portfolio, 6X on Select Business & Travel Purchases, and 3X everywhere else. Terms & Limitations Apply.

The 6x Hilton points on business expenses includes:

  • U.S. gas stations
  • wireless telephone services purchases directly from U.S. service providers
  • U.S. purchases for shipping

The 6x Hilton points on travel expenses includes:

  • U.S. restaurants
  • flights booked directly with airlines or with AmexTravel.com
  • car rentals booked directly from select car rental companies

Get Hilton Honors elite status with this credit card

You will receive complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status just by having the Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. If you want to upgrade that to Hilton Honors Diamond status, you can do so by spending $40,000 or more in eligible purchases on the card in a calendar year. Hilton Honors Gold status gets you things like additional points, space available upgrades, late check-out, and even free snacks or breakfast, depending on the type of Hilton property you are visiting.

Earn up to two weekend award nights each year

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card awards up to two weekend Hilton award nights each year based on your total purchases in that calendar year. If your total eligible purchases on the card reach $15,000 or more during a calendar year, you will receive one Weekend Night Reward from Hilton Honors. If you make an additional $45,000 in purchases in that same calendar year, totaling $60,000 in cumulative spend in that year, you will receive a second Weekend Night Reward from Hilton.

Earn two award nights you can use at the Grand Wailea in Maui each year!

That’s a lot of spending, but it is also pretty darn unique to be able to earn two weekend award nights valid on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, at the majority of the Hilton properties around the world every single year from just one credit card. You have one year to redeem the weekend night awards from the time they are issued and here are the few exception properties where you cannont use the awards.

The Weekend Night Rewards will be issued in the form of redeemable codes sent in an email from Hilton Honors within 8-12 weeks after you have met each purchase requirement.

Get 10 free Priority Pass Select lounge visits

While many of us already have Priority Pass membership of some sort on one of our credit cards, not everyone already has lounge access. If you are in need of lounge access on your travels, this card comes with 10 free airport lounge visits each year once it is enrolled in complimentary Priority Pass™  Select membership, which offers access to over 1,000 lounges in over 120 countries. Additional visits beyond those 10 would be billed at $27 each.

This is a brand new product

As with most Amex cards, the terms indicate that the welcome bonus offer is not available to applicants who have or have had this product. However, this is a brand new product that none of us have had before, so that isn’t a barrier!

Additionally, if you care about Chase 5/24 status as I do, remember that small business cards from American Express don’t impact that count. That means that not only is this is a card that no one has had before, but it shouldn’t hurt your future applications with Chase. Being that it is a small business card, you do obviously need a small business of some sort to apply, but in my experience, Amex often doesn’t require a business to have a ton of history or revenue to qualify for a small business card in the way that some other banks require.

More Hilton Amex Cards to come

While we are on the topic of Hilton cards, note that the Hilton Honors Surpass Card is becoming the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card (with some real improvements), the Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express is becoming the Hilton Honors American Express Card, and a brand new premium Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card with top-tier Hilton Diamond status and $500 in annual credits is coming, too! Stay tuned for more details about all of those new cards and changes, but for now, I’d seriously consider putting the brand new Hilton Honors Amex Business Card on your list if you want some more Hilton perks and points for future trips without impacting your Chase 5/24 status.

  1. Still in shock that Hilton would allow their highest elite tier, Diamond, to be given away as a credit card perk to someone who pays an annual fee of only $450. I’d be furious if I frequented Hilton Hotels for business. On the flip side, as a former Citi Hilton Honors Reserve cardholder and now an Ascend card member, the perks are great.

  2. Applied for the card and was approved immediately. Thanks again for letting us know about this great bonus. I have a trip to London in June and will be using the card to book non-refundable rates at some Hiltons. By booking non-refundable not only will I get the best rates but they will charge my card immediately, thus helping me out in meeting my $3,000 spend. Again, thanks to you for guiding us on how to go about earning the bonus. Happy New Year!
