HILTON HONORS BUSINESS CARD OFFER REFERENCED HERE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

The biggest credit card news yesterday was probably that the brand new Hilton Honors American Express Business Card launched with a sign-up bonus of up to 100,000 Hilton Honors bonus points + tons of other built-in perks such as Hilton Honors elite status, the ability to earn up to two weekend anniversary nights per year, and more.

This is a small business card with no annual fee, so being able to earn up to $500 in bonus cash back is really outstanding considering there is no hefty annual fee to go along with it. This just announced special offer awards a $250 statement credit after you spend $5,000 in qualifying purchases on the card in the first 6 months and then an additional $250 after you spend an additional $10,000 or more in the first year.

Those may sound like big spending numbers to achieve but remember you have a full six months for the first $5,000 in spending and then a full year from the time you are approved for the card to complete the additional $10,000 in spending. If you wanted to average that out, you would need to spend about $834 per month for the first six months to trigger the first $250 bonus and an additional $834 each month over the course of a year to trigger the second $250 bonus. That means in the first six months you are spending about $1,667 on the card each month and then in the second six months you are spending just $834 to earn the full $500 cash back bonus.

This is a small business card, but don’t count yourself out just because your side business is still small. I’ve heard many stories of those with small side businesses taking photos, selling items on Etsy, pet sitting, blogging, etc. getting approved for Amex small business cards.

Earn 3% – 5% cash back in select categories

Aside from the welcome bonus of up to $500 dollars, the no annual fee SimplyCash Plus Business Card awards 5% cash back on wireless phone services purchased directly from US service providers and at US office supply stores. It also awards 3% back on your choice of one of these eight categories:

  • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
  • Hotel rooms purchased directly from hotels
  • Car rentals purchased from select car rental companies
  • U.S. gas stations
  • U.S. restaurants
  • U.S. purchases for advertising on select media
  • U.S. purchases for shipping
  • U.S. computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases made directly from select providers

Obviously, you would want to select a category that isn’t already covered on a different credit card of yours. With this card, you earn the 5% or 3% cash back in bonus categories on up to the first $50,000 in purchases per calendar year, then 1% applies thereafter. Terms Apply.

Since it is a small business card, it should not impact your Chase 5/24 status as Amex small business cards do not display on your personal credit report. I know many of us love our miles and points, but it is hard to argue with up to $500 in bonus cash back from a credit card with no annual fee. This is being advertised as a special offer, so while I don’t yet know an end date, presumably the offer will drop back down at some point. For reference, the previous offer was for a total of $400 in bonus cash back as opposed to the $500 available now via this special increased offer.

Have you had the SimplyCash Plus Business Card from Amex or is it on your 2018 to-do list?

  1. I’ll definitely be doing this. $500 bonus, plus up to another $500 in cash back if you can manage the full $10K spend in the 5% categories.

And Special Recognition to MP for posting a great offer that no one else has….at least OMAAT, VFTW, TPG, FM, and even DoC, don’t have this posted. Nice!
