Earn 1,000 Bonus Ultimate Reward Points With Apple Pay Promo (Targeted?)

There’s a cool new promo floating around for those with the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve, that will provide 1,000 bonus Ultimate Reward points with five Apple Pay transactions from April 1 – April 30, 2018. If you have been ignoring all of these mobile payment promos, I strongly encourage you to force yourself to give one a try as they really do seem to the be future of many bonus promotions and even some quarterly 5x bonus categories.

I received a head’s up on this particular promotion from a Mommy Points reader (thank you!), but there is a thread on SlickDeals as well. Based on how some previous similar promos worked, I’m betting that this is not targeted and that it works for the Preferred and Reserve cards, but I can’t confirm that quite yet. I have sent a secure message to Chase from my Chase Sapphire Reserve account to see if my account is eligible, and that would be my recommendation to you if you have not received an email notification from Chase and would like to try out the promotion for your account.

Update: I did hear back from Chase, and as I suspected, my Sapphire Reserve account is eligible even though I haven’t yet received any notice of the promotion.

Some examples of Apple Pay retailers include: Whole Foods, Starbucks, Chick Fil A, Chevron, Dunkin Donuts, Disney, Trader Joe’s, McDonald’s, Panera, and Texaco, so it should be pretty easy to have five transactions in a month if you drink coffee, eat out, get gas, etc. If you use your points to book travel via Chase, then 1,000 bonus points on a Sapphire Reserve card is worth $15!

I’ll update the post when I hear if my Sapphire Reserve card is eligible as I have not yet received an email communication similar to the one above. If you have additional data points to add regarding your own Chase account, I’d love to hear them!

  1. […] Folks with the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve card holders (and possibly Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited card members too) should be eligible to earn 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after making 5 purchases with their card through Apple Pay!  It seems to be targeted, but if you didn’t get an email with about the offer, folks have had success messaging Chase and asking if they qualify for the deal. 1. I received the offer for my reserve: “Get 1,000 Points
when you use your Chase Sapphire Reserve card 5 times with Apple Pay between April 1 and April 30, 2018.”

  2. Just sent them a private message as well. Thanks for the heads up on this rather easy to accomplish task of using Apple Pay.

  3. According to the reply I got via secure message from Chase, it is targeted:

“The offer you provided is available to the follow card types if a targeted offer was received:

    – Chase Freedom Unlimited
    – Chase Sapphire
    – Chase Sapphire Reserve
    – Chase Sapphire Preferred

If a targeted offer wasn’t received, the offer is not available for that card.”

    • I sent a secure mssg. to Chase because I did not get an email with any offer. Within an hour I got this:
Allow us to review the Apply Pay spend offer on your Chase
Sapphire Reserve Card ending in XXXX..

Stephen, as a Chase Sapphire Reserve customer, you are
eligible for the said offer. For your reference, we have
the offer summary and terms and conditions provided below.

      Offer summary:

? Get 1,000 Ultimate Reward points when you use your
eligible Chase Visa credit card five times with Apple Pay.

    • Top left corner of your account look for three stacked lines. Click on that and half way down is the secure message tab.

  4. Sent them a Secure Message and was told I was not targeted for this offer. I replied saying I was moving my $10k+ monthly usage of Chase cards into Amex. Got a message back they were going to escalate my case and get back to me.

  5. I also sent a secure message and was told that I was not eligible for this promo. They said I would know if I was eligible for future promos if I receive an email or have a banner when I sign in. Sad face 🙁

  6. Not “targeted”. I wrote to them, and was immediately shot down. Bummer, since I have SO many Chase cards; personal AND business! Ah, well…
