These days, the payment system through which you checkout is becoming as important as the rewards credit card that you use when it comes to earning as many points as possible. There are active promos for those using Apple Pay, PayPal, and Chase Pay, and now there is a brand new promotion for those who use Amex Express Checkout.

Until May 17, 2018, you can earn two additional Membership Rewards points per dollar when you use an eligible Amex Card such as The Amex EveryDay®, Premier Rewards Gold Card, and more when paying via Amex Express Checkout at select merchants, up to a maximum of 5,000 bonus points.

The participating brands for the extra 2x Membership Rewards points include:

  • The 1-800-Flowers family of brands
  • Avis
  • Budget
  • B&H
  • Boxed (excluding alcohol)
  • Cole Haan
  • Crate & Barrel
  • Gilt
  • GrubHub/Seamless
  • Neiman Marcus
  • Newegg
  • Staples
  • Ticketmaster
  • Walmart

Some of these brands, such as Boxed, also have active Amex Offers that should stack with this deal on eligible Amex accounts. Walmart, in particular, is a good retailer to keep in mind for this promotion since it is usually pretty tough to earn very many points per dollar on Walmart purchases. This promotion should also stack with first going through the miles, points, or cash back online shopping portal of your choice before getting to the retailer’s website – use cashbackmonitor to quickly spot the best place to start your purchase.

  1. Do you earn MR points on gift card purchases? I’m not very familiar with them but my wife has an Everyday card. It would be easy to buy Amazon GCs at Staples if those will earn MR points.
